VIDEO: Democratic U.S. Senate Candidate Mike Padgett On His Would-Be Democratic Majority Leader

Late last night, Joe Lance posted comments made by Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Mike Padgett earlier that morning at Wally’s Restaurant in Chattanooga on the importance of nuclear power as a solution to our energy crisis as well as the need for a place to deposit the waste yielded by the process.

Padgett went on to identify Yucca Mountain as a suitable place to store such waste and noted Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s (D-Nevada) strong opposition over the years to the idea. Padgett then made comments, as recounted by Lance, that seemed to express a willingness to see Reid’s ouster, if need be, in order to remove such opposition.

While not asserting the candidate was misquoted, the campaign did issue a clarifying statement making clear that there was no intention by Padgett to make a call for the Senate Majority Leader’s head.
