Tick Tock And He Don’t Stop: Bredesen Off-Script On Obama [AGAIN]
Posted on August 27, 2008 at 8:50 pmOn a night even Bill Clinton is singing the praises of Barack Obama, Governor Phil Bredesen, once again, offers his unsolicited constructive criticism of the Democratic nominee:
“What he’s got to do is get more specific — not so much in terms of putting out white papers — but really explaining to some of these undecided voters why is your life going to be better if you elect me,” Bredesen said. “I’m not talking about hope and change and stuff.”
That rhetoric has energized the Democratic base, Bredesen, but it hasn’t reached “that middle 10 or 15 percent, who may be D’s or R’s in their registration, but they’re certainly willing to go either way” and will likely decide Obama’s contest with Republican John McCain.
“It’s a different message for them,” Bredesen said. The Obama campaign should reach out to them by emphasizing “just one or two things” he’ll do to improve the plight of people who shop at Wal-Mart.
The Davis People Plan To Go Out In A Blaze Of Glory
Posted on August 13, 2008 at 12:59 pmRep. David Davis continues to fight the results of his First Congressional District defeat asserting that outside influences conspired to defeat him despite indications from the party higher ups that this needs to end:
“The evidence obtained to date illustrates that there was a systematic effort by both known and unknown persons to influence the Republican primary election for Congress in the First Congressional District. While our detailed data analysis is not yet complete because voter data will not be available until Thursday afternoon, an initial review of the information provided by witnesses and anecdotal evidence shows that many voters who have never voted in the Republican Primary chose a Republican ballot this time,” said Congressman David Davis. “Similarly, many voters who had a history of voting to choose the nominee of the Democrat Primary chose a Republican ballot this time and many of these were in areas in which Dr. Roe saw heavy support. Because of this evidence, we are considering challenging the results of the recent primary through the process allowed under state law,” he added.
