Gibbons Plays Up Alexander Connect With Nashville Conservative

Posted on April 4, 2009 at 8:19 pm

Truman Bean reports from a meeting with gubernatorial candidate Bill Gibbons and a few of Nashville’s conservative bloggers. The Shelby County DA served as a special assistant to Alexander during his tenure as governor:

The constant theme and comparison that seemed to run throughout his intro and later interaction with the questioners, was highlighting the similarities and politically common roots of his friend, Senator Alexander. At first glance, It seems like a careful and well thought theme in which will surely be played well and often over the next year.

Sesame Street?

Baby-faced boy blogger Matthew Hurtt gives us what he’s been hearing “on the street”:

“Word on the street” is that there has been a never-before-seen power grab at the county election commission level. People have come out of the woodwork in an attempt to get the one available Republican election commission seat in all 95 counties. Davidson, Bedford, and Rutherford counties - just to name a few - have all experienced some sort of political disagreement - including, but not limited to namecalling and threats.

This has caused a great amount of tension amongst Republican lawmakers, who have been pressured into appointing friends and contributors, to the point of them not being compelled to act quickly on this issue.

That’s the “word on the street.”

College Republicans Join Kurita Campaign As Coordinators

Posted on September 29, 2008 at 6:37 pm

A message has just been sent out to members of “Let’s Keep Kurita”, an open Facebook group, by the Vice President of the Austin Peay College Republicans, Cody Schmidt, in which he reveals his role as a campaign coordinator for Senator Rosalind Kurita.

My name is Cody Fisher-Schmidt and I am currently working for the Senator Kurita Campaign. Tomorrow at 4:30 in The Morgan University Center on Austin Peay, State Representative Philip Johnson is stopping by to speak about his campaign and will be asking for help as well as speaking on Senator Kurita’s Campaign. If you can make it out that would be awesome! Thanks for your time

Post Politics confirms that Schmidt is indeed on the Kurita campaign payroll. Conservative blogger and MTSU student Matthew Hurtt is also listed on the page as a coordinator and volunteers for the campaign, mostly on weekends.

Hurtt previously served as the Campaign Operations Director for Rep. Donna Rowland.
