“If you feel rejected, Frankie, it’s because I do. I reject you.”

~ Kathleen Flannery in State of Grace (1990)

Jeff Woods’ sources tell him that Rep. Lincoln Davis likely would have begged off a governor’s race regardless of who the state party elected but when the part did elect Chip Forrester, Davis decided to send a message:

“At Saturday’s meeting, the talk was going around that if Chip won, Lincoln was out. Suddenly, boom, the announcement comes this week. The timing of it really got my attention. It feels like a ‘fu[dge] you Chip Forrester’ to me. It has that feel. Lincoln was probably not going to run anyway, but Chip’s election sealed the deal.”
