Fred Holds The Line In Georgia
Posted on November 20, 2008 at 3:30 pmFred Thompson comes to the GOP’s aide in Georgia’s runoff Senate election:
Mr. Thompson, through his political action committee, Fred PAC, is asking supporters to reach for their checkbooks to aid Senator Chambliss in his runoff effort. In an e-mail message today, Will Andrews of Fred PAC, lays out the stakes:
“Holding the Georgia seat could very well be the difference in blocking the Obama administration’s most radical social policies,” he writes. “And winning in Georgia could mean stopping ever higher taxes on the ‘Average Joe.’”
But buried near the bottom of the message is this curious line: “Barack Obama is going to Atlanta to drum up support for his Democrat candidate.”
Though the Obama team dispatched volunteers to Georgia to help the Martin campaign in the general election and in advance of the Dec. 2 runoff, there have been no indications yet that President-elect Obama will travel there to campaign in person.
Bob Costas Gets Hardcore With The President At The Olympics On China
Posted on August 10, 2008 at 10:55 pmFrom the transcript:
Costas: If these Olympics are as successful as they are shaping up to be, most people believe this only further legitimizes the ruling party in the minds of most Chinese citizens. And even absent true liberty as we understand it, the lives of hundred of millions of Chinese people are much better than they once were. Therefore, what’s the party’s incentive to reform?
Bush: Well, first of all, if you’re a religious person, you understand that once religion takes hold in a society it can’t be stopped. And secondly I think the Olympics are going to serve as a chance to come and see China the way it is, and let the Chinese see the world, and interface, and have opportunity to converse with people from around the world. This is a very positive developmen, in my view, for peace. Who knows how China is going to progress. They’ve been through some very difficult political times, the cultural revolution, for one, where the leadership actually created violent anarchy as the society turned on itself. All I can tell you is that it’s important for the United States to be active in this part of the world with all countries, and to stay engaged with China.
Living By The Gun
Posted on May 15, 2008 at 6:52 amBill Hobbs reports on progress in “civil rights” in Georgia that has been denied Tennesseans:
Georgians with handgun carry permits will be able to carry their concealed guns on public transportation, in restaurants that serve alcohol and in state parks under legislation signed by Gov. Sonny Perdue today.
Similar legislation in the Tennessee was killed in the state House a few weeks ago. The fingerprints on the murder weapon belonged to House Speaker Jimmy Naifeh. Accomplices are all the allegedly pro-gun rights Democrats who elected him Speaker.
