Joe Carr has picked up more endorsements from fellow state legislators, announcing it in an email that brags that Tennessee is the next Mississippi:
The Joe Carr for Senate Campaign today announced the endorsements of East Tennessee Representatives Tony Shipley (R-Kingsport), Timothy Hill (R- Blountville), and Micah Van Huss (R- Jonesborough).
“If you want to know why I support Joe, just look at his record and what he has done in the Tennessee General Assembly. Senator Alexander has betrayed Tennessee by joining President Obama and Harry Reid's ‘War on Coal.’ The destruction of the coal industry has hurt the East Tennessee economy and our ability to pursue energy independence for America.” said Rep. Shipley. "New Jersey Governor Christie called Tennesseans ‘dumb’ for considering Joe Carr, but we think it’s dumb to vote for someone who agrees with Obama 62% of the time. New Jersey values do not work in Tennessee."
“The bottom line is that Tennesseans have been abandoned by their senior Senator,” Rep. Van Huss said. "Senator Alexander no longer stands for Tennessee values. His support of this ‘War on Coal’ puts working families in Tennessee at risk of losing their jobs.”
"During our time in the House, I got to know Joe Carr as my widely respected colleague," Rep. Timothy Hill said. "He is a true fighter for our conservative values and will do just what he did in the State House when he gets to the US Senate, stand strong for Tennesseans and their values. We know Washington isn't working for us anymore. Joe will be a part of the leadership that will bring our nations healing, not be part of the problem."
“The feelings of voters here in Tennessee match the environment nationwide - people are tired of a Washington establishment that spends more time worrying about their political futures at the expense of working-class families,” said Rep. Carr. “I’m proud that the people closest to the voters are standing with me in this fight against a broken status-quo."
Representative Shipley represents the 2nd House District covering part of Sullivan County. Representative Hill represents the 3rd House District covering Carter, Johnson and part of Sullivan Counties. Representative Van Huss represents the 6th House District covering part of Washington County. They join a growing list of TN state legislators who are backing Carr’s bid for Senate. In recent weeks, the campaign has announced the endorsement of Senators Hensley (R-Hohenwald) and Niceley (R-Strawberry Plains) and Reps. Holt (R-Dresden), Sanderson (R-Kenton), and Wirgau (R-Buchanan).
