Tea Party Convention Approves Passes For Only Five News Orgs

Posted on January 13, 2010 at 11:19 pm

Tea Party Nation has released an update on the status of their upcoming convention at the Opryland Hotel which includes the names of five organizations they have granted media access for the entire event three-day event.

Organizers had initially announced the event would be closed, but today Sarah Palin made known her request that her speech be open to media.

The five approved outlets are: Fox News, Breitbart.com, Townhall.com, World Net Daily and The Wall Street Journal. All five are widely considered to be Right-leaning organizations.

The press release explains that the requests for credentials have been overwhelming and that to preserve the nature of the event they are limiting press availability.

“[A]s we have set expectations that this is a working convention, we have tried not to make it a media event,” convention organizers stated in a press release. “We have been hard pressed to accommodate all of these requests and do not have the space or resources to support the entirety of the press corp.”

Organizer Judson Phillips clarified in an email that only the credentialed organizations will have access to the entire event but the media at large will be allowed to cover the Palin speech as requested and possibly other portions of the event as well.

“We may open some of the events to the media. We are asking speakers about that…Gov. Palin has asked that the media be given access to her speech and we are going to do that.”

The National Tea Party Convention will be held Feb. 4-6 at the Opryland Hotel. In addition to Palin, scheduled speakers include Rep. Marsha Blackburn and Rep. Michelle Bachmann.

Stop calling it a Tea Party, it is a Republican Party

Palin only flipped on this AFTER she began taking flack for barring all press except her hand-picked press lackies. I’m betting she bails altogether eventually, now that tea party nation, inc. and it’s founder Judson Phillips have been exposed as frauds.

Marsha Blackburn is speaking…LOL! Maybe she can get up there and tell them how her bill HR3174 provides the type of freedom that the TEA Partiers are looking for. I hear that REAL ID really isn’t that big of an issue with the TEA Party gang.

Blackburn is another tea bagging hypocrite. She’ll stomp her feet and throw her little hissy-fit over all the rights President Obama is taking away from ‘the people’ (still can’t find a bagger that can actually name the rights that have been taken away), then turn right around and vote AGAIN and AGAIN in favor of the Patriot Act.

Why would anyone being exposed as a fraud bother Sarah Palin? Takes one to know one.

Yeah, Marsha Blackburn needs to get out of D.C. She’s useless! We need to get her opponent, Dr. Greg Rabidoux, there instead! http://www.rabidoux4congress.com

I have worked w/Jodson @ several of his events & there are 2 sides to that story. besides, everyone has to make $$ one way or another to live so I see nothing wrong being paid to help train consertative activists to get all the progressives, liberals, marxists, & socialists out of washington before they & obama totally destroy america & our capitalist system. and…no…we do not need rabidoux in congress…he is another obama lackey…marsha is not perfect but she does believe in smaller government & keeping government in its place. this is not a media event..it is a training event for consertatives. since sarah is w/fox news now & her activism is stirring up consertatives up & get them off their duffs to vote I am sure she does want coverage. it was tea party nation that wanted it closed to the media so valuable work could be done w/o distractions….acorn, seiu, & other libs are trying to crash the event…they already know how to steal elections..so they can stay home!It is time that libs & non-consertatives be voted out of the republican party…since we have a 2 party system…or independent consertatives be voted in to force obama & his lackeys on the course america needs to be on.

“I have worked w/Jodson @ several of his events & there are 2 sides to that story.”

Actually there are 3. There’s one side, the other side then there’s the truth.

“marsha is not perfect but she does believe in smaller government & keeping government in its place”

No she does not and her voting record proves it.

“everyone has to make $$ one way or another to live so I see nothing wrong being paid to help train consertative activists”

How is training somebody to be a professional activist/lobbyist going to help the voter? Why do you people always think ‘the people’ need paid professionals to do for them what they can do for themselves?

“they already know how to steal elections”

And you just need time, money and training to learn how to do that as well, right?

What’s wrong with this picture? Boo-hiss bad lobbyists, they are destroying our country - now let’s go train some more so we can take our country back.

“since sarah is w/fox news now & her activism is stirring up consertatives”

Her activism??? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Palin is many things but activist cannot be counted among them. I think you are mistaking activism here for self-interest and personal profit of which I have no problem with either - so long you are honest about it and she is anything but honest in this regard.

“acorn, seiu, & other libs are trying to crash the event”

How do you mean crashing? Are they going to run cars through the hotel walls into the convention area and distrupt the event? Or by crashing do you mean exercising their right to demonstrate this event?

“since we have a 2 party system”

No, there are actually DOZENS of registered, official political parties in this country. To say there are only two makes you either ignorant, uninformed or misinformed. Take your pick.

This year we have a choice in the 7th district. Blackburn works for Marsha, Rabidoux will work for us! Check out the website, http://www.rabidoux4congress.com. He knows history, reads current events, makes complete sentences and LISTENS!! PLease help us send Marsha back home (to Mississippi, for all the “Native Tennesseesean” talk is a front too). OUr Gerrymandered district makes it so hard to challenge her. So even if you’re not in the 7th district, send him a contribution just so you won’t have to listen to Marsha anymore after 2010!

They crybaby. PRESS IS NOT ALLOWED

they allow the Press, and they say… THEY ARE LETTING IN THE PRESS.

    I have a suggestion.. GET A LIFE.

“I am sick of seeing them elected to anything…sick of libs, sick of george sorros & move on”

And I am sick of liars and hypocrites. I am sick of ignorant, uninformed individuals will argue to the bitter end in defense of liars, hypocrites. Guess we’re even huh?

  15. January 14th, 2010 6:02 pm

“they allow the Press, and they say… THEY ARE LETTING IN THE PRESS”

Please show us all where this has been said or even implied. I know you would just love to focus attention on this now non-issue instead of trying to explain how the tea party and it’s organizers have lied and STOLEN from people who support these organizations with their time and money.

Smack go to any thread about this convention. Its there Cheese toes, Davy, Mod Dem,

. their are not letting the press in.. on and on.

Now they let the press in.. and liberals are upset about that.

  17. January 14th, 2010 6:31 pm

“Now they let the press in.. and liberals are upset about that”

You wish that’s all they were upset about. It’s the fraud, theft, lying and hyporacy they are upset about and all they are writing about. There is NOTHING more than acknowledgement of Palin’s flip-flop. It ends there. YOU are the only one going on and on about how they are going on about her flip-flopping.

    What flip flop..

    Palin has not changed.

and that is why she is now ahead of Obama in some polls, and with in the margin of error in others.

I Need to call Comcast I have tried to find that C-Span Channel that is carring the Healthcare Debate.

    Nuff said.

    Hey, TN volunteer.
I hope you’re not volunteering at your kids’ school as you are, not only an idiot, but a horrible speller.
Does that make me an “elitist” because I went to school? Quickly, ask Glenn Beck!! He’ll tell you what to say.
I see you’re using the old “Sarah is ahead of Obama in some polls” line you heard on Hannity. What does this have to do with anything? She doesn’t make policy, she’s a mouthpiece for FOX and she’s not in office. Your point is irrelevant and lacks a logical basis. Of course, because you went to some Rocky Top, backwoods elementary school for your Master’s degree, I’ll forgive you.
Why is it you make such a huge issue about O not wanting to talk to FOX but as soon as 5 conservative media outlets are the only ones covering this event, you see no problem? Answer: because you’re a partisan tool, unable to come to your own conclusions.
Hurry up, I hear the dinner bell ringing. Varmints are up.

Marsha is an extremist who will take the Republican party right over the edge. None of us want extremists in office, whether they are extreme to the right or extreme to the left. We want effective, moderate leadership that will represent ALL of us. That’s Greg Rabidoux. And, that’s why he gets my vote. No small government. No big government. How about Effective Government?

I don’t think the left wing media, like media matters and Soros’s group etal., need to be there. They all seem to be giving their opinion in this comment section, and I’m sure if they were allowed in, opinion would be all we would received anyway. Same old, same old.

The other media has ignored them until now.. so why should they invite them.

Heck the CNNs ABCs, NBCs ignored them until, they see the political earthquake that is hitting Mass.

They are waking up.. the Tea Party is more popular than the Republcians and Demcorats, Almost more popuular than the 2 combined, not quite yet but moving that direction.

Interesting, the first several hundred “Tea Parties” as well as a march on DC was open to all the press. NBC, CBS, ABC, AP, etc, just ignored it.

“Interesting, the first several hundred “Tea Parties” as well as a march on DC was open to all the press. NBC, CBS, ABC, AP, etc, just ignored it.”

That is simply not correct. EVERY network covered this. Were you “off-world” when this coverage took place or maybe in a coma for 10 months? Maybe you think there should have been more coverage? How much would have been sufficent for you? A 24hour teabagger network? Just because every network did not cover every teabagger rally in every city across the country every time one of these group hissy-fits were thrown, this does NOT mean it wasn’t covered.
