Davidson County GOP Asks For A Juvenile Court Clerk Primary

Posted on December 17, 2009 at 7:34 pm

From Joey Garrison:

Davidson County Republican Party leaders filed paperwork this week to hold a Republican primary for the highly coveted seat held by current clerk Vic Lineweaver, who attracted a field of competitors after media reports last year revealed he spent considerable time at his Bellevue house during works hours.

So far, eights candidates — including Lineweaver — have picked up qualifying papers to run as Democrats. Another candidate is running as an independent. But until this week, a Republican primary had not even been established.

While no one has picked up papers to qualify as a Republican, some observers have speculated the primary may be an opening for Crafton, the Bellevue-area representative known for his conservative streak.

Wow. It’s sad that someone is this vindictive to Ms. Starnes. Many of the facts in the linked post are misleading. For example, the WIN fundraiser featured a large number of Republican co-sponsors. As for as her former Democrat status, that category fits a large number of Republicans in Middle Tennessee who have left the liberal party to join the conservative party. If the DCRP has issues with Ms. Starnes, I’m sure they can take it up with her.

Looks like every opponent of the Music City Center is just looking to run for higher office. Using the issue to get in front of the TV cameras.

What should we expect from a bunch of politicians?

    Gavin -

I am not vindictive, I am merely pointing out facts.

This seat is so prized because it has a prized salary to go with it. $96K (I think).

Any one besides me find it intersting that the leader of the candidates is David Smith, Goodlettsville? What about his Mason/Shrine Connection? or aren’t we allowed to bring that up in southern conversations?
