Gethsemane
By Kleinheider Posted on December 3, 2009 at 7:13 amWhether or not you believe Kent Williams should be allowed be a bonafide member of the Republican party or not, this is a striking picture.
Tim Rudd, a state executive committee member from the 13th District, sent this PDF around to his fellow members of the committee to further discourage any members who plan to make a motion to reinstate Williams as a member of the party. His email contained the following note:
“I thought you needed to see this photo prior to the SEC meeting. If any one asks you why Kent Williams was thrown out of the Republican Party and why he should stay out of our Party, this “prayer” photo says it all.”
The committee next meets this Saturday, December 5th. Williams was booted from the party by former chair Robin Smith after he joined with 49 Democrats to elect himself speaker.

So Jason as Christ … can they get ANY more disgusting?
I was there. We were all praying to God to give Jason strength as he took on the role as leader. This photo was taken minutes before the vote for speaker.
The Rep., your God is an awesome God.
I should say all of us were “supposedly” praying for Jason.
Shouldn’t the reference be to the last supper instead? Or did you intend to infer that the Republicans were crucifying Williams unjustly?
It is a striking photo. Surprised it took this long to come out.
This is beside the point, but the biblical story line is wrong here - Judas didn’t hold hands and pray with Jesus in the Garden. Judas came into the garden with the soldiers and kissed Jesus on the cheek.
Now if Williams and Mumpower had done *that* and gotten their picture taken, we’d have a real story!
I guess the similarity would be more with the last supper followed by the garden. But that is not a good one word title.
“Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them” Simply appoint Republican Committee Chairs. Kent Williams does not need an SEC vote to be Republican.
The guy who took this picture was paid by Jason Mumpower to follow him around that day and document his life. Jason may want to watch out for what photos he leaks out.
This photo makes the republican party look all the more silly. They were electing a speaker, not a messiah. Get over yourselves.
Robin Smith’s best work on record. Thanks!
Did they pray in Jesus’ name? Because, as every good Christian knows, the prayer doesn’t work unless it’s in JESUS’ name.
Could Jason Mumpower possibly look more pompous and self-satisfied? This pic makes me glad he lost.
Revealed: the Tennessee House Republicans praying to Lord Mumpower - their GOP Jesus Savior.
This photo from the secret State Executive Committee email clearly show that all TNGA House Republican heads are bowed to their Leader and Lord Savior Jason Mumpower…
photo caption: In January 2009 Rep. Kent Williams joined hands in prayer with Republican House Majority Leader Jason Mumpower and fellow Republican Caucus members moments before he would betray them and the Republican Party. He then voted with 49 Democrats against the Republican nominee and for himself as Sppeaker of the House. The scene is reminiscient of Judas joining hands in prayer with Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane moments before the soldiers arrived to arrest him.
Photo: (Williams is 5th on right from bottom. Mumpower is 4th right from bottom).
Yeah, I love that all heads are bowed but Jason’s … LOL … arrogance served.

Jesus Mumpower? According to the TNGOP, Yes.
