Analyst Downgrades Davis And Gordon To Likely And Lean

Posted on November 19, 2009 at 2:47 pm

From the Cook Political Report:

TN-04 Lincoln Davis Solid D to Likely D

EXCERPT: “Davis may be the most conservative Democrat in the Tennessee delegation, but he also represents a more rural and more Republican district than any other Democrat from the state. In 2000, favorite son Al Gore managed 49 percent of the vote here, but President Obama couldn’t even break 35 percent last year. The four-term Davis was held to 55 percent of the vote as recently as 2004, but took 59 percent of the vote in 2008…in this political environment, no Democrat in rural Tennessee can be considered completely safe.”

TN-06 Bart Gordon Likely D to Lean D

EXCERPT:
“After years of neglecting this district, Republican campaign operatives are privately giddy about Gordon’s suddenly anemic numbers back home. Gordon, the chair of the House Committee on Science and Technology, has cruised to reelection since a very close call in 1994 and was unopposed for reelection in 2008. But after taking heat for supporting Democrats’ ‘cap and trade’ bill, Gordon invited GOP ‘flip flopping’ charges on health care when he first voted for the bill as a member of the Energy and Commerce Committee and then switched to opposing the bill in November. Gordon has very little room for error in a district that gave GOP nominee John McCain a 25 point margin over President Obama in 2008…No matter what happens in the August primary, the fundamentals of the district and the year argue that Gordon is in for a punishing campaign.”

Tracy is probably why they downgraded Gordon. Also they moved the 2nd district held by Vic Snyder in Arkansas into the tossup category and John Spratt in South Carolina into the lean democrat category.

Don’t think so idgaf .Coop has a solid liberal and Republican base in the 5th and you know it. As much as we Progressive’s dislike some of the things that Coop does that is ProBusiness and Prorepublican we will work and support him and he isn’t slick but damn you Republicans are Crooks for Greed.

Thank You Jim Tracy. Tracy says he’s “testing the waters” and Gordon gets downgraded. Great news.

This IS an interesting article and Yes each Davis & Gordon are quite succeptable to ‘getting beat’ in 2010, here.

There are No Majority of persons liking either of these Candidates and Fran Markum had it right when she said Davis is ’sleazy’ (and I wish she could have defeated him). I suspect him of being involved in all the ancient tobacco prostitution, along with other secrets i don’t know about nor-eastern TN.

The problem w/ B gordon is also ‘ancient’ as in his 30 yrs of service in the US House from the district. People loose touch with reality in that world, and his support system merely tries to confound the competition (and keep up the old corruption crap) rather than set anything right. Good luck boys.

I don’t live in either district, but I plan to give $2000 from me and my wife to both opponents of “Missing” Linc Davis and “Fart-Snortin’” Gordon. These snivelling Pelosheviks have got to go!

Still thinking about giving $$$ to the person who challenges Stupor Cooper. He is such an angry tart. I had dinner with him fifteen years ago at Duke University and he grumbled and complained about everything. If memory serves, he had just lost a bid for the Senate at the time.

    Idgaf,
You ae the typical mean GOP. Everyone that is not a republican has to go by your standards. This is the reason we are in such a mess is that your GOP buddies ran everything for the last eight years under Bushie before President Obama. You wait and see whem the GOP takes over TN completely, we will sink in the black hole.

Davis’ problem may be as much from the progressives as from the right. The bedrock of his party is pretty fed up with his right-wing shenanigans, and won’t be able to muster much enthusiasm for him.
