McWherter Campaign: We Like Our Poll

From the campaign manager:

Mike and our campaign are taking this race very seriously, and our inclination is to rely more on bona fide scientific surveys to keep us informed about where things stand. That’s why I wanted to share with you the results of a poll we commissioned of more than 600 likely Democratic primary voters across the state. We used a respected pollster with years of experience in Tennessee helping other prominent Democrats like Governor Bredesen assess their respective campaigns.

These results were not all that surprising – Mike’s name recognition is strong in all parts of the state, much stronger than any other candidate in the Democratic field. Initial trial heat results at the start of the survey showed Mike with 26% of the vote, with the rest of the field in single digits at 6% or less. Furthermore, even after voters were given positive statements about each of the Democratic candidates in the race, Mike’s support grew and held its strong lead over the others. Read the pollster’s internal memo here.

In other words, we are desperate so we paid for an internal poll that made us look good so we let it out! please like us! please! please! please! My daddy was governor.

Pretty big undecided number for a race with a McWherter in it. Would like to have seen the breakdown in East/West/Middle.
