Straw Polls Don’t Mean A Whole Lot

Just ask Zach Wamp:

“All these things don’t really matter in the big scheme of things,” said Wamp “Most often they’re a matter of how many tables a candidate buys, or how many tickets a candidate buys to an event.” The Chattanoogan said a “scientific survey” would give a better idea, and cited one he had done in July, which showed himself leading but the other three candidates — including Gibbons — bunched close behind.

its very true what he says. Just like when people are recognized for being ” the most innovative” or 40 under Forty or whatever you call it. The awards go to the sponsors. Period. One thing you can say about Zach Wamp…”he is not afraid to speak the truth”. I love the guy and really hopes he is our next Governor. It would be so nice if for once the office wasn’t just bought by another rich guy. Just my humble opinion though.

…Zach starts losing to Ramsey and Haslam in straw polls, and now they don’t mean a whole lot. That’s convenient!

Wamp said the exact opposite at the Sumner YR straw poll. He said “these straw polls are very important.” He thought he was going to win that one because he brought the stache and a busload of supporters. Best he could do was tie Ramsey in that one.

I don’t see what the big deal is. 149 votes cast over the course of a four hour event? Why does it matter if there were only 60 people still there when Kyle and Cammack finally showed up and decided to count?
Sounds like a legit straw poll to me…
