Ramsey Says He’d Use The Bunker if Elected Governor

Posted on November 12, 2009 at 4:50 pm

From the AP:

State Senate Speaker Ron Ramsey was among the hall’s critics and said Thursday he still considers it a mistake. But Ramsey, a Blountville Republican who is running for governor, said he would still use the facility if elected.

“What am I going to do, just board up the windows?” he said. “I wish it had never been built. But it’s been built, so use it.”

Ramsey said he wasn’t invited to the dedication ceremony. The governor’s office, however, said the speaker’s office declined an invitation because of a scheduling conflict.

Well I helped pay for it and no one invited me to the Dedication Ceremony.

I say, let the Rescue Mission use it for homelesss people to sleeep in on Friday and Saturday night. Then it would be going to good use. And feed them well. After all, the taxpayers who paid for it, might just end up in those lines if we have to keep on dishing out taxes for such bad endeavors on the part of the gov-ment.

Of course he would use it as will anyone else
elected Governor. That’s one of the few places
you can have all the lobbyist in one place
outside the public eye and their names not
reach the public record. It can also be used
for fancy Caucus dinners and meetings without
the surprise of TV cameras especially when
    discussing big tax increases.

Last evening the First Lady said on TV that it
was all paid for with private donations. That
alone should provoke an independent audit for the
full cost of renovations of the Home and Conservation
Hall and then from that total deduct the funds
that were soliticed in the name of Renovations only!
That transparency would tell us who paid for what.

You need to tour the Bucker, and you will change your mind. If Gov. Dunn had the forsight to build this or remodel the mansion, the GOP would have supported it 100%. The good part is that just about all of it was funded with private funds. I know that one of my organizations contributed to this project.
