RNC Chair Michael Steele says white folk are scared of him:

“I’ve been in the room and they’ve been scared of me,” said Steele, the first African-American RNC chairman. “I’m like, ‘I’m on your side.’”

I had such high hopes for Steele when he was elected Chairman. But, he has been a complete disappointment.

He’s 6′4″ tall. I’d say a 6′4″ tall anything would scare some people.

6′4″ tall black man though scares the white establishment regardless. He is seen as a threat or incompetent. he is trying his best to FIT IN and they (the establishment in the GOP) just cant get in favor with him. hmmm makes you thinkkk why the GOP cant recruit blacks, young people or other minority groups.

You know, I had a genuine post-racial feeling with this guy- not empty rhetoric like Obama, seemed to me he was largely focused on issues/campaigns… so what’s THIS all about?

I’ve defended him on my blog more than once and gave him the complete benefit of the doubt, too- although a bit out of his depth, I thought he’d grow into the job- I like his personality, and hey- at least the guy’s got a sense of humor.

But after NY-23 I lost most respect for him… that’s largely his fault for letting it go down like that– he’s the boss, and it was botched, that’s all I know.

Hey Mike, I’m not afraid of you, man- unless you’re referring to your ability to quarterback us through the 2010 midterms that are the one last hope for this country.

We need to get that right, so I’m sure you’ll understand it if you get benched– nothing personal, and CERTAINLY nothing racial about it… you’re just disappointing us, that’s all.

I find it sad that Steele would comment that when in a room of white repubicans they are scared of him. After watching the video of the interview it is obvious Steele was trying to get accepted by the interviewer who is black. I am equally sure after years of being called an “uncle tom” by black liberals he tires of it and would like to be respected for his political opinions. In the black liberal establishment community racism is not only practiced it is used to bully and intimidate anyone who gets out of line.

I am getting a kick out of these comments.

This isn’t about race…it’s about power.

Gingrich, just like Steele, had to go kowtowing to Rush when he spoke without permission.

Steele would have done a lot better if had told Rush to shove it (assuming Rush could find where he was supposed to shove it into, instead of doing his little bow down gig.

There’s a good chance McCain would be President now if Rush hadn’t slandered him in 2000, and then in 2008.

Unfortunately the Dittoheads never hold Rush responsible for driving away moderates and women from the GOP, and Steele is held responsible for the mess someone else created.
