Praying For A Zach Wamp Victory
By Kleinheider Posted on November 8, 2009 at 12:56 pmTom Humphrey looks at our governor’s race in the wake of the Republican gubernatorial victories in VA and NJ:
And, while denouncing them, he and other Democrats seem to recognize the best hope for Democrats in Tennessee is a strengthening of the hard-right wing of the GOP, turning off independent voters and even moderate Republicans.
In Virginia, media reports indicate that the Democratic nominee for governor tried to paint Republican Robert McDonnell as an extremist, but McDonnell took pains to downplay social issues, and the tactic didn’t work.
Independents still decide general elections in Tennessee. In GOP primaries, the battle between moderates and conservatives seems to be tightening.
In 2006, conservatives Ed Bryant and Van Hilleary had more votes combined than moderate Bob Corker, who went on to win the general in a close contest with Harold Ford Jr. The outcome might have been different with a GOP nominee cast as a nut job.

What does this have to do with Zach Wamp, other than Kleinheider showing bias?
Maybe Kleinheider is thinking about running?
“He and other Democrats seem to recognize the best hope for Democrats in Tennessee is a strengthening of the hard-right wing of the GOP, turning off independent voters and even moderate Republicans.”
That’s what it has to do with Zach Wamp… that’s a guy that doesn’t even need to be “cast” as a nut job, he just obviously is one.
Everyone knows Kleinheider is a Ramsey fan. Ramsey is just as much of a “GOP nominee cast as a nut job” as Wamp is. But ACK failed to mention that just like he failed to mention Gibbons finished 2nd in the Dyersburg straw poll, beating his beloved Ramsey and Wamp (who had 3 votes). But maybe that has more to do with him not wanting to draw attention to that poll because Haslam won it big. But its not fair to Gibbons because he is doing better than people want to admit in West TN. Seriously though, is the only thing ACK can mention about that article what the Congressional candidate Fincher had to say?
Take a closer look at the article, and at the bottom you’ll see the straw poll results. http://www.stategazette.com/story/1585387.html
Shame on you, Kleinheider. Straw polls are dumb, but you ALWAYS mention them. Last week, you even made a post about how there was GOING to be a straw poll at the conservative union gathering in Knoxville. Maybe that’s because you knew Ramsey would do well in it, and Ramsey’s successful straw polls always end up in this web space.
Now I love to give Adam a hard time, but I see no evidence he favors Ramsey. He seems to be up Haslam’s butt just like his pal Tom Humphrey. They want a lame-ass rich guy to be our candidate to either elect a Democrat or give Don Sundquist a fifth term. Oh, I am so vain I thought I was the Nut Job du jour.
