Rep. Evans is a well intentioned conservative republican. Unfortunately Joshua also is another twenty-something with a laptop and hasn’t learned that sometimes his opinion is just that and without the benefit of a little more life experieince comes off as being another legislator seeking the limelight. Hey Joshua put the laptop down and take a break from the facebook and twitter for awhile.
Evans is a moron. Always has been.
Now that the Mike Turner and Gary Odom groupies have chimed in, it’s only fair to say that Rep. Evans is one of the most principled members of the General Assembly. He may not always do what is popular with the Capitol Hill crowd, but he always does what is right.
Oh give me a break Gavin. Who are you to say what is right? You guys are living in a dream world. Too bad Evans isn’t smart enough to realize that Williams is a Republican. He needs to stop taking his directions from people like you. Oh and yes, I AM a Republican. Just because people don’t agree with you and Evans, doesn’t make them Democrats.
Rick, its the new GOP - everyone is supposed to think alike, do the same things, support the same concepts, and speak the same words. No principles, just talking points.
Kent Williams IS a Republican, Josh Evans. He IS a Rep. SPEAKER, in case you have been shut up in Mumpower’s castle too long. He’s a REAL Republican according to what we are supposed to believe in. Bet Evans doesn’t even have a copy of the Rep. philosophies. I’m tired of Mumpower and his kingdom court of jesters. Most of all, I’m tired of the legislators who are too chicken to stand up for the right thing because they think “the party” will kick them out, too. It’s nice to finally have a man in leadership who isn’t afraid to just stand for something. I don’t see what the speaker did as self-serving at all. He had to know the rough road he’d have from the party if he was elected by the Dems. But, he also knew TN deserves to have leaders who can come into a room and work TOGETHER and not alienate their fellow legislators just because they don’t share the same party. I’m a Rep. through and through. I wish everyone thought the way we do, but this is not reality and I value our country’s democratic system and it’s people more than party. If TN is to forge ahead, we are all going to have to work together to make that happen. It doesn’t mean we have to BE Democrats or even like the party. But we do have to respect each OTHER. We need to realize there will always be Dems. The Spkr’s ability to utilize the talents and good qualities of even those he disagrees with makes him a great leader. And it’s amazing how much can be accomplished when our leaders decide to work together for the common good of all Tennesseans. Just look at the Rep. goals that were achieved this past session. How can ANY Rep. leader - especially the State Party Chairman, Chris DeVaney - say this man is not a “bona fide” Rep according to their bylaws? How can they disrespect his county voters that will be electing him back into the House? I have relatives that live in a county beside his (Sullivan Co.) and they have been hearing from many people in Carter Co. that they WILL reelect him, no matter if they have to vote for an independent. How will THAT look for the Rep. party? I think his county is one of the most Rep. counties in the state! DEVANEY AND THE EXEC. COMMITTEE SHOULD BE ASKED THESE QUESTIONS and THEY SHOULD ACT ACCORDING TO THE HONEST ANSWERS THEY ALREADY KNOW IN THEIR HEARTS. Pride is not as important as the people of our state.
Damn rich. You need to get back on your meds or back away from the laptop. Sounds like you could use a little anger management.
