Straw polls are meaningless! Now gimme a straw.

Haslam’s unique strategy of running - openly - as a moderate in a TN GOP primary is not paying off. However, the big loser tonight is Wamp. It’s time for him to get out of this race and keep his congressional seat for the good of the party. If activist conservatives give him 3rd place, his only role is that of a spoiler.

    Wamp should fire me immediately.

That is impressive for Ron Ramsey and surprising for Bill Haslam. Wamp was in Washington voting down the Obama health care takeover and but still had a good showing. In fact, only Ron Ramsey was present to speak. Why Haslam was gone is unknown.

Wamp neither voted on health care tonight nor had a good showing. 3rd after Haslam at the only statewide conservative event? Again, he needs to keep his seat on appropriations and get out of a race in which his best hope is to place 3rd and play the spoiler. He’s not raising any money and he’s stalled with the grassroots.

Business interests. “Business-friendly environment.” “Unnecessary regulations.” Such as hiring law. The Conservative Union listens for the magic words.

These damn Repub operatives suck at trying to leave comments. You are too obvious. Go find some Dem operatives to teach you how to comment in a way that doesn’t look so contrived for your candidate.

And when have those magnificently talented Dem operatives had a net gain in the statehouse? 1996, genius. Go to sleep boy, it’s past your bedtime.

I don’t know that many cuss words.

Wamp was in Washington, which is his favorite place.

You people said Ramsey was dropping out just last week, and what did I tell you?

This is two events in a row where Bill Gibbon’s only vote was from his surrogate. Knoxville is in Zach’s district, and Haslam is the mayor and largest employer. What happened?

Ed Goaz, stop with the advice already, Bob’s working like a charm.

Sorry I couldn’t be there last night, it was my wife’s birthday.

Nothing in the Knoxville News Sentinel. If Haslam had won it would be on the front page. It really is a shame the way the KNS suppresses news.

    “Knoxville is in Zach’s district”

    NO.

Knoxville is in Congressman Jimmy Duncan’s district, the 2nd district.

If you don’t know that, why in the hell are you running for governor?

The big news on this is that the TCU is so conservative, the the true conservative, supposedly Wamp, should have won.

    But he didn’t.

And I’m surprised that Haslam came in second with the TCU, because the organizers of this event are not Haslam fans.

So the vote for Haslam must have been more a vote AGAINST Wamp.

    Wamp, wamp, wamp.

The tire is continuing to lose air. Will be riding on the rim in no time.

That makes little to no sense. You don’t have a clue do you?

So when Wamp finishes 3rd in this straw poll, Knoxville is NOT his district. But when Wamp is out campaigning and taking credit for all of the jobs in Knoxville, it is. So which is it?

These events are a reflection of how many tables you buy. Haslam bought 6 tables for this event…

Ramsey’s state Reps and state Sens bought a couple dozen. Wamp bought a few…

Votes directly reflected the number of tickets bought by the campaigns.

Funny part is that Haslam didn’t even disguise it, he just flat out bought dinner for 25 UT students and asked them to come vote for him…

This was hardly a real poll…

if Wamp’s goal is to win straw polls, I guess when this whole thing is over, he’ll always have that.

    Davy:

    You got me big daddy!

Yes, the entirety of Knox County is in TN-2. However, Zach has everything immediately west, northwest, north, northeast, and east. I’ve heard, in some of our many speaking engagements together, Congressman Wamp speak of his representation of “Greater Knoxville.” So, go ahead pick a speck out of my eye when you have a plank in your own.

Fortunately, in 2011 the gerrymandering ways of the Democrat Party will no longer be an issue in Tennessee, and I won’t need a magnifying glass to determine if someone has a handful of precincts in a county. For instance, the State House District I live in has 6 precincts in Sumner County.

Go figure! I guess I should abandon the race… NOT!

,” Congressman Wamp speak of his representation of “Greater Knoxville.” So, go ahead pick a speck out of my eye when you have a plank in your own.”

Er, I’m not sure why Wamp’s megalomania is necessarily a plank in my eye.

The 3rd district is to the west of Knoxville from the southern border of Tennessee to the northern border, almost a line from border to border.

Wamp doesn’t represent any part of “greater Knoxville.” If he said he does, that’s simply untrue and a lie on his part.

It is true that he represents Oak Ridge, and ORNL and it’s area contractor employees live in west Knox County, more than live in Oak Ridge.

    With apologies to
Rep. Jimmy “government is not the answer” Duncan, greater Knoxville is heavily dependent on federal jobs based in Oak Ridge.

In that sense, Wamp might say he represents “greater Knoxville’s” economic interests, but in no way does he represent the geographical area known as “greater or metropolitan Knoxville.”
