That Close

The state Democratic Party will be the subject of a FEC hearing today discussing a recent audit examining how the party paid for polling in the 2006 U.S. Senate race. Bill Theobald is intrigued by the actual polling in the audit.

What’s more interesting than the highly technical issues involved in the case are the tracking polls for Harold Ford Jr.’s Senate campaign that are included among the background documents.

The two polls, conducted just weeks before the November 2006 election, are a reminder of just how close that race was and how close Ford came to defeating Republican Bob Corker.

Check the documents here.
