How Much Time Between Now And The Gubernatorial Election?
Posted on November 3, 2009 at 8:16 amMike McWherter does the math in a new fundraising email:
In 524,100 minutes the first polls will open in our great state of Tennessee for the 2010 Election Day!
It’s hard to believe that on this first Tuesday of November, one year from now Tennesseans will head to the polls to elect their next Governor.
I intend to be your next Governor, but first I need to get elected… and for that I am counting on you!
Now some political analysts believe that a candidate need only earn votes in a handful of urban areas in Tennessee to win a statewide election. I flatly disagree with that type of thinking.
I think that type of attitude shortchanges the relevance of voters in all counties, which is why I intend to run hard and earn support in each and every one of our 95 counties. I believe that every voter has a voice and deserves a Governor who will listen to it, whether they live in Memphis or Mountain City.
But to meet this challenge and run this type of campaign, I need your financial support. As you know running a statewide campaign is an expensive proposition. Please go online and make a contribution today! Any amount - $10, $25, $50, $100, $250 or more would be greatly appreciated.
Will you help me “Beat the Clock?”
This next Election will come at a time when our state’s future hangs in the balance as we struggle to recover and rebuild on the heels of one of the worst economic downturns in history. Our state and its citizens are facing some critical issues:
* The state unemployment rate is 10.5%, the highest it has been in several decades. Factories are closing, thousands are losing jobs, and Tennessee families are hurting.
* In addition, the next Governor and our state will be confronted with a serious budget crisis. With all that’s at stake, the decision for Governor should be made on the simple proposition of who folks think is best equipped to govern and lead our state back to economic prosperity by making the creation of jobs and economic development their top priority.
I will be that Governor..
Sincerely,
Mike McWherter
