Fred And John Rich In New York

Posted on November 2, 2009 at 7:37 pm

The duo were up north on behalf of congressional candidate Doug Hoffman. Here’s the report from The Hill:

Rich, one-half of the platinum-selling country duo Big and Rich (“Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy”), traveled from Nashville to New York state on Monday to campaign for Hoffman. Rich also put some of his cash behind the conservative candidate: He and his wife, Joan, contributed $5,000 to Hoffman’s campaign, according to filings with the Federal Election Commission.

Rich is a regular supporter of Republican causes, but Thompson’s presidential campaign wasn’t one of them. In 2008, Rich supported Thompson’s rival in the GOP primary, Sen. John McCain (Ariz.). He even wrote an anthem for McCain and performed at the Republican National Convention.

Of course, the second paragraph here is not true. Rich was a big supporter of Thompson’s presidential campaign from announcement to withdrawal.
