TNDP Chair Hopes State Republicans Aren’t Trying To Start Another Civil War

Posted on October 22, 2009 at 11:58 am

From a press release:

“I hope they are not suggesting we fight another Civil War,” Forrester said. “This is nothing short of lunacy. The Tea Party organizers and their ultra-right wing cronies began this ridiculous issue to disrupt civil debate about how to move this state and nation forward.

“It’s unfortunate that Republican members of the state Legislature have jumped on this crazy train. Instead of focusing on real issues that concern most Tennesseans, these legislators are more concerned about grandstanding and how to divide us.

“Just look at this past legislative session when Republicans brought up wedge issues like guns in bars. Our state and its citizens are facing financial challenges that affect far more people than a wedge issue does,” he said.

Is it just me, or does Forrester sound bitter lately?

    This can’t be a serious press release…?

Did he actually use the term “ultra right wing cronies”? I’m surprised he didn’t fit in the word “ilk”.

Although, I do kind of like “crazy train”. Conveys the message, adds humor.

But the rest of it sounds like a blog post.

Sen. Henry is on the joint committee chaired by Rep. Lynn. The TDP is the gift that just keeps on giving.

Henry is the only Democrat on that committee, you idiot. More Democrats are needed there.

I thought this press release was over-the-top myself but then read David Oatney’s blog (scroll down a few posts and read Oatney’s entire post) arguing that Tennessee can legally withdraw from the Union and implying that we should threaten to do so unless the federal government agrees to the state soverignty agenda. ( I’m not making this up.) Oatney doesn’t speak for Susan Lynn but the distance between them is generally a hop-skip-and-a-jump. Chip has a point.

?? Forrester sounds like a paragon of sanity compared to gold-plated whackjob Susan Lynn.

Again, TN embarrasses itself on the national stage and makes everybody else think we’re a passel of morons out here.

At least TNDP is talking about jobs and the economy, and not playing defense against some GOP social-issue straw man for once.

There was a guy on the corner when I walked back from lunch mumbling about the jobs and eonomy. I had no idea how wise and priority-setting he was. I am going to go back out and see if he is the TDP.

I still haven’t been able to find a GOPer who is able to explain how a gun is supposed to help me find a job.
