Sarah Palin Has Mobilized A Movement Of Conservative Women

Posted on October 5, 2009 at 7:12 pm

So says Adrienne Royer:

Because women on the right don’t seperate the issues of being a woman and being a conservative, we’ve only organized in response to specifc legislative issues (abortion and ERA). Occassionally, some efforts have been made to harness the power of conservative women. Phyllis Schafly probably had the most successful run in the 70s and 80s in defeating the ERA. Later in the early 90s, the Independent Women’s Forum was created in response to Justice Thomas’ confirmation hearings.

Until Sarah Palin entered the picture last year, conservative women were disjointed. We were involved politically, but didn’t single out women’s issues as a major platform.

If Betty Friedan gave a voice to the problem with no name, Sarah Palin forced the political and social movement with no cohesion to the forefront of American politics. Regardless of how you feel about Palin, she was the lightening rod that spurred women to organize on the right. We’re now seeing that.

Yep.. Conservitism is winning over the “moms” that is not good for the Democrats..

If Mom becomes votes conservitive. The Democrats are eyeball deep in poop the next elections

I think the problem is that Democrats don’t have those snappy names, like ‘Defending the American Dream Summit,’ or tea parties, or any of those really nifty things like that. Man, makes me wanna go to the ‘Defending the American Dream Summit’ - who could be against that? Not me, you betcha!

Alas, when you get to the party, it’s all stale cookies and curdled milk … and a whole lot of what they’re not for … very little new seeps into a ‘Defend’ party … just a lot of scary monsters coming into the refrigerator and eating up the good cholesterol and exterminators who are really CIA agents planting bugs in your house on direct orders from the White House …

I love what Mike Murphy said on Meet the Press Sunday. He said he was gonna buy Palin’s book - he was gonna wait until it was spell-checked, but then he was going to buy it.

Why anyone takes anything about Palin seriously is amazing … well, except for TNVol73. Then it makes perfect sense. After all, she knows who makes up budgets and sends people to war - you betcha!

Apparently women on the right can’t spell “seperate” …

    DontCallme Mikey.

Why should we take Palin Seriously.

    1. She has Grown an economy

    2. Obama has Distroyed and economy

    3. She has Balanced a Budget, (In Alaska the Budget is balaned by the Executive Branch via Line Item Veto)

    4. Obama has Given us As SNL said NOTHING.

    5. Palin has Turned Defict into Surplus before she left office.

    6. Obama gave us Cash For Clunkers. Maybe we can Trade The Clunker of the Obama Economy in for something.

    7. Obama is the Bush 41 Third Term. Which is more of the Same no Change.

DAVY yes I answered your question,

No, Presidents do not sign spending bills into law.

The President signs PROJECTED SPENDING BILLS into law.

You see. Budgets and the Spending bills in teh Budgeets are PROJECTED SPENDING.

Deficts are caused by REAL SPENDING, (Adjusted spending), which the president DOES NOT SIGN.

you See all you have to do is look back about 14 Years to the Conservitive movment in the 1990s that Balanced the Budgets.

When the Republicans took over congress, the Democrats congress passed PROJECTED SPENDING FOR 1995 into law, The President Signed in September 1994

In Feb. 1995 the Congress REFUSED to spend the PROJECTED EXPENSES, thus did not BORROW 110 billion dollars, which reduced the 1995 Defict by ~46% cutting the Defict in 1995 From 250 Billion to 140 Billion, Then did the same in 1996, which caused the Governmetn to shut down in early 1996…. Which Created a 2 billion dollar suplus in 1996, instead of a 120 Billion defict.

AND THE PRESIDENT HAD NO POWER TO STOP THE FISCAL ACTIONS OF CONGRESS.

So to answer your question… Take a Civics Class… You would know the answer,.

Still, Obama appointed the CEO of GM which BANKRUPTED the Car Company.

What “women’s issues” does Palin champion, exactly?

She’s anti-choice and pro-abstinence; she promoted cutting city funds for rape kits as mayor; there’s nothing on record vis a vis her discussing increasing women’s participation in politics, doing anything to help with child care or equal pay for equal work; and worst of all, she’s no towering intellect.

“She’s really done a lot of work on oil and gas, but when it comes to violence against women and children … we haven’t been on her radar as a priority,” said Peggy Brown, executive director of the Alaska Network on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault. (link: http://www.upi.com/Top_News/2008/09/15/Palin-record-on-womens-issues-questioned/UPI-76701221527590/)

I guess I can see GOP women getting that warm cuddly feeling that there’s a woman on the national scene in their party, but I don’t really see how she’s such an inspiration vis a vis good policy.

OMG! I can’t remember when I’ve seen a bigger example of serial stereotyping and misspelling of words.

Sarah Palin can try her best to be a female conservative leader but women will follow only if she addresses true bread and butter issues that primarily affect women. You have to remember that Phyllis Schafly never captured the allegiance of most women and that most women voted against Sarah Palin last year.

Surveys have shown that being for or against abortion has little affect but economics bring female voters. Time will tell if Obama’s efforts will repair bush’s devastation of the economy but I can’t see where keeping massive tax breaks for the rich, retaining a failing healthcare system, and advocating the failed Reagan philosophy of trickle down economics will bring woman to Sarah or anyone else.

“Theoretically, conservative philosophy views everyone having equal rights. This is why identity politics rarely gain traction on the right.”

The key word here is “theoretically”. We’re talking about a philosophy that kicked and screamed through both the civil rights movement and women’s suffrage. Even today they oppose extending equal rights to those in the gay community. Any attempt to establish equality under the law is viewed by conservatives as establishing “special rights”.

Today’s conservatives are completely bound up by identity politics. They are the white suburban/rural middle class. Conservatism has become a tool used by this group to justify their existence.

This isn’t an attack on Cosmo Con by the way. I actually enjoy a lot of the stuff I read over there. I don’t necessarily agree with all of it, but it’s still a good read and thought-provoking.

Many conservative feminists, Christian humanists and others have concluded that pro-abstinence and limitations on abortion are the more ethical and beneficial public policies for women, and society.

That the prominent liberal position sides differently on these matters does not automatically negate the alternative feminist viewpoint; nor does it render the politicians, whom represent this line of thought, as antithetical to women’s issues.

I’m not afraid of her, but what she represents. She is a reminder that our fragile democracy is dependent upon a well-informed and educated population. When a clueless idiot like that is elevated to a position of prominence just because she can (barely) express some mean-spirited platitudes, it shows how we as a nation are falling short.

Sarah Palin is similar to Julius Caesar of the once mighty Roman Empire. When Julius Caesar left Rome to fight against the Gauls, he has small legions. When people and the rest of Roman legions learned about his effective leadership and how he won the wars, his legions grew three folds. That’s why when Caesar had crossed the Rubicon, his enemies of liberal elites like Cato and his cohorts were defeated. Sarah Palin for now just finished the book and she has not yet crossed the Rubicon. By 2011 and 2012, you will experience a dangerous Hurricane Sarah coming from the north slope…it is unstoppable!!

The mighty Roman Empire was not destroyed from the outside force until it was destroyed from within…due to corrupt liberal elite senators and liberal corrupted Emperor Commodus. It is not Romney nor Huckabee has this common sense conservatism because both of them are TRAPOS (traditional politics) and do not have moral conviction. Sarah Palin maybe our last hope and a true change. She has the only one who has common sense conservatism and the only governor who can stand against good old boys and against corruption. Look at Singapore, how it has become right now!! Way back in 1960, Singapore was almost destroyed by radical left (both Christians and Muslims), then Lee Kuan Yew , a conservative ruler took over and ruled with an iron fist telling the world that in order to put law & order and discipline, he will not mind executing half of its population. The United nations and human rights activist hated him so much. Lee Kuan Yew has justified his authoritarian rule by Making Singapore as the cleanest and most stable country in the world in terms of economy and its political system. Now, even united nations and human rights group embraced him, making him role model leader and he won a Nobel prize.
Where are far left Singaporeans right now? THEY ARE DEAD AND FORGOTTEN!! And Lee Kuan Yew?? He is still loved by Singapore and the rest of the peace loving people in the world that value democracy and capitalism!!
