Education Commish Prepares For Life After Bredesen

Posted on October 4, 2009 at 11:17 pm

From the Tennessean:

Tennessee’s commissioner of education is one of two finalists for Cheatham County director of schools.

Tim Webb and James Best, superintendent of Westside Consolidated School District in Jonesboro, Ark., were selected Saturday as the two finalists.

The school board interviewed four candidates for the job. The other two were Les Bivens, superintendent of Taliaferro County Schools in Crawfordville, Ga., and Steve C. Knight, an educational consultant from Benton, Ky.

Webb said Gov. Phil Bredesen’s administration will be coming to an end next year, and he’s looking at employment opportunities for when that time comes. He does not plan to vacate his current position until July 1.

What’s a “commmish?” I can’t find that in any dictionary or stylebook. Can you NOT contribute to the continuing dumbing down of our society?
