District 62 Special Election Debate Challenges And Counter-Challenges
Posted on September 15, 2009 at 2:14 pmFrom a press release:
In a letter sent to Chris Brown Monday, State House Republican candidate Pat Marsh urged all District 62 candidates to participate in a town hall meeting so voters can hear from all three candidates about important issues facing Tennesseans today. The letter comes after Democrat candidate Ty Cobb admitted he does not “have time” for such discussions.
“I am disappointed in the Democrat Candidate’s response that he does not ‘have time’ for such an event,” Marsh wrote. “You and I have had an opportunity to debate during the primary, and I believe that now that we are only weeks away from the general election, we must have a debate with all three candidates present. Anything else would be a disservice to the voters and not achieve the objective.”
Marsh wrote to Ty Cobb last week requesting his participation in town hall forums throughout the 62nd district. Cobb turned down the request.
Marsh’s letter to Brown continues, “I trust that you will join me in challenging Ty Cobb to a Town Hall meeting where we can have a genuine debate. Doing so will allow the voters to have a complete picture and full understanding of what our plans are for the future of this district and the State of Tennessee.”
Pat Marsh is a Lincoln County native and currently resides in Shelbyville with his wife Mary. Marsh serves the community as a member and past President of the Rotary Club and is active in the Shelbyville Chamber of Commerce, the Tennessee Trucking Association and American Trucking Association. He also sits on the Board of the National Walking Horse Celebration. He is also a member of the National Rifle Association and Ducks Unlimited.

Dear Chris Brown,
I appreciate your desire to join me in providing a town hall forum or debate for the voters in District 62. I am disappointed in the Democrat Candidate’s response that he does not “have time” for such an event.
You and I have had an opportunity to debate during the primary, and I believe that now that we are only weeks away from the general election, we must have a debate with all three candidates present. Anything else would be a disservice to the voters and not achieve the objective.
I trust that you will join me in challenging Ty Cobb to a Town Hall meeting where we can have a genuine debate. Doing so will allow the voters to have a complete picture and full understanding of what our plans are for the future of this district and the State of Tennessee.
Sincerely,
Pat Marsh, Republican Candidate for TN State House 62
