Today, the Tennessee Department of Safety (TDOS) announced the temporary assignment of THP Sergeant Stacey Heatherly as the agency’s Public Information Officer (PIO).
“Sergeant Heatherly brings over 11 years of experience in law enforcement to the Office of Public Affairs,” said Public Affairs Director Mike Browning. “Having a commissioned officer who has served the Department as a Road Trooper and as a Sergeant in the Office of Professional Responsibility will be a tremendous asset to satisfying the media’s need for THP-related information.
A native of Jacksboro, Tennessee, Sgt. Stacey Heatherly, 44, began her career in 1998 as a Trooper in Wilson County and has also worked as a Trooper in her native county of Campbell in the Knoxville District.
In March of 2007, Heatherly was promoted to Sergeant within the Department of Safety’s Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR). OPR is charged with managing the investigative and disciplinary processes for the Department of Safety. Sergeant Heatherly’s scope of investigations within OPR were focused mainly within the Driver Services Division. During Heatherly’s assignment in OPR, she also assisted the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) with multiple investigations.
Prior to Sergeant Heatherly’s career with the Department of Safety, she served five years as the Coordinator of the Campbell County Emergency-911 Center in Lafollette, Tennessee. Sergeant Heatherly has four children and two grandchildren. She is married to Michael Heatherly, who is a Trooper in Anderson County.

I know Stacey. Believe it or not, she used to do a fishing show geared toward women for my morning show many years ago before she became a THP trooper.
