Marsh Declares Victory In District 62

Posted on August 27, 2009 at 8:16 pm

Republican Pat Marsh has won the GOP primary for the honor of facing Ty Cobb in a special election to replace Cobb’s brother Curt who resigned to take a job at the Bedford County Courthouse:

Small businessman Pat Marsh issued the following statement regarding his Republican primary victory from 50’s and Fiddles in Shelbyville where he celebrated with supporters and family on Wednesday evening.

“I am so humbled by the support I have received in this election. So many people worked very hard knocking doors, stuffing envelopes and making phone calls to make sure we got our message out. Our victory is proof that our message resonated with voters. This election is about jobs and tonight we are one step closer to making sure that there are more good paying jobs in the 62nd District and all of Tennessee. When I am serving in the State House I will use my business background to provide leadership that creates an economic environment where jobs are created, taxes remain low and working families prosper.”

Marsh, a Lincoln County native and Bedford County resident and founder and chairman of a successful trucking business, understands that we need a government that spends less. Marsh will take the reins from day one and fight for conservative values. He is committed to cutting government waste, ending frivolous spending and making government work within a reasonable budget just like successful businesses and working families do every day. Pat Marsh will lead with the common sense business approach that has enabled him to build successful businesses and employ thousands of Tennesseans.

Marsh began his career in the trucking industry as an employee at a small company with six tractors and twelve trailers. He worked his way up and eventually bought the company and grew it to 500 tractors and 1000 trailers, which employed over 1000 people. He sold the company and started another trucking company, Big G Express, with his brother Jack in 1995. Today, Big G Express has 350 tractors, 800 trailers and employees over 500 people.

UNOFFICIAL RESULTS:

Republicans

Pat Marsh -1826
