Wamp Wants To Know If The Health Care Reform Bill Will Fund Abortion

Posted on August 5, 2009 at 4:45 pm

From the Chattanoogan:

Congressman Zach Wamp and 34 other House members have asked President Barack Obama “for clarification on whether the Democrats’ health care proposal would use taxpayer dollars to fund abortions.

The group said, “Without an exclusion written into the legislation, abortions would be federally funded under a government run health plan and millions of pro-life Americans would be forced against their conscience into private health insurance plans that pay for abortions.”

Rep. Wamp said, “President Obama’s relentless effort to expand abortion funding threatens the progress our nation has made to reduce abortions.

Yes of course, why should lady parts be covered? They aren’t covered under current private insurance plans.

    Oh, wait.

    Donna,

That NumbersUSA crap was debunked last week, and ACK actually linked to it. Read it here.

Beale, depending on the directives in the states, without federal requirement of eligibility verification, there will be no checking, no verification. In fact, I’ve lived in a state (Georgia) in which the governor (Democrat Roy Barnes) directed welfare workers NOT to check for eligibility. We had welfare employees in our immigration-control coalition who gave us a lot of documentation on this.

But hey, if you enjoy paying for it all, don’t let us stop you.

You are naive. The Democrats know exactly what they’re doing on this.

    Is that a rhetorical question?

Yes it will fund abortion. Fact.

I wouldn’t let it be a deal-breaker. That would be allowing the tactic to control the future. The less money spent on exorbitant doctor and hospital charges, the more private funds will be available for people who want elective procedures.

Wouldn’t they need to overturn the Hyde Amendment? Wamp could go ahead and talk to his colleagues pushing the bill or read the draft language himself, but it’s better to put himself in front of a microphone to ask the question so it will arouse opponents of health care reform. I mean, I always call a reporter when I have questions about stuff we do in my office. Mr. Wamp was just up talking about how healthcare is a privilege. I wonder when he’ll give that $5,000 back to Mr. Ensign?
