Dump Bart Gordon

Posted on July 31, 2009 at 4:30 pm

Political Lipskip is tired of his congressman:

This piece of work has got to go. I will do everything that I can, which is not much given the lack of money and power I have, to ensure that he will no longer serve my district. Hopefully the people of the 6th district will see this liberal for what he really is. He voted for the stimulus. He voted for Cap and Trade. And now he is assisting the Progressives with their agenda in government takeover of health care. He is part of the problem that, if left to running the government, will bankrupt the country and destroy the freedoms and liberties that we all enjoy.

If you are from the Tennessee 6th District, around Smyrna and Murfreesboro, then visit and support a website called Dump Bart Gordon. They will inform you of his voting record and let you know when protests are scheduled to let him know how we feel about his liberal voting record.

Blah blah blah, government take over, blah blah blah. Liberal agenda, blah blah blah. I hope you dont take part in the medicare Medicaid health programs, BECAUSE that is government health care, not this hr3200 bill. All the lies have been debunked time and time agian.

Google the word “choice” and study what it means so you will be able to better understand the meaning of “public choice option”

“He voted for the stimulus. He voted for Cap and Trade.”

    You consider those bad votes.

Oh yeah, you come from the no ideas, hands-off party that has yet to articulate a way to address the big issues of our time.

Yeah, let’s ignore the economy. Environment? Who cares about that?

They have addressed it Nash, “if you dont agree and do as WE say and as WE want you to, you are a TRAITOR and UN AMERICAN!” The party that says they stand for DEMOCRACY, but wants it run by Tyranny.

Gordon is my Congressman, and I am well-enough satisfied with him. He misses sometimes, usually trying to placate the intolerant right in his district. But overall, he is a good, astute, productive and respectable Member of Congress.

Contrast that with a zero like Marsha Blackburn.

What I am tired of is a bunch of sour, mean-spirited, regressive, stand-in-the-road-of-progress, angry, paranoid, shake-your-fist-at-the-changing-world, minority-hating, homophobic, I-got-mine-to-hell-with-you right wingnuts such as…well, such as Political Lipskip.

    Hold on, TNVolunteer.

You’re using an attack BY THE LEFT on one of the most liberal members, in which the congressman says explicitly that single payer is not possible, as proof of some unknown point against Congressman Gordon.

    Right.

    TNVolunteer73,
Thanks for posting that. It reconfirms my belief that Barney Frank remains one of the sharpest, most astute members of Congress there is.

He admits “single payer” would be his preferred alternative, but doesn’t have widespread support in the Congress. “Public option” may be a way to prove that it may work. What’s your fear? That a public option program might succeed? That the cost of delivering a baby ($450 in Canada, $1,100 in France and $1,800-$2,000 in the U.S.) might come down? If government run health care is as bad as you argue (except for Medicare, Medicaid and the military system), then I would think you’d embrace a greater government role in order to demonstrate its ineptitude?

Barney Frank continues to demonstrate why none of the Republicans in the House will debate him 1:1 on health care. When’s the last time you saw Boehner actually answer questions from a guy on the street? The GOP doesn’t want a gay guy to gut them like a fish!

I love Bart Gordon. He’s standing up to the wingnuts and the liberals. He understands that he represents all of the 6th district, not just the Dems or the GOP. He’s an experienced Congressman with a strong and effective staff. He’s been in Congress since 1985 when he took over from Al Gore. He’s heading up the House Science Committee, and he actually understands how to develop programs that are profitable and effective. And even though I wish he was taking a stronger stand in favor of healthcare reform that puts patients ahead of profits, I still see that he’s in the middle of the fray instead of out on the lunatic fringe.

Does TNvolunteer want the status quo, where we have insurance companies rationing care and making life/death decisions instead of doctors, without regulation? Does TNvolunteer want to see insurance premiums double every 10 years while we get less care for a higher cost? Does TNvolunteer want to see 16% of our GDP spent on healthcare costs while wages remain flat? President Obama was right - the status quo is unsustainable, and we cannot have a reform plan that adds to the deficit. Bart Gordon is following the President’s playbook, and 70%+ of Americans agree with those principles - quality affordable care for every American.

    Common Sense,

Not sure what poll you are quoting. If the question was about the desire to have affordable healthcare, then yeah, most people would want that. However, that does not imply that this plan is the solution. I highly doubt that 70% of the people say they support Obamacare. If so, please provide the poll, that has a question asking specificially about Obamacare. If you can’t provide it then please stop trying to imply something that isn’t true. There is enough BS coming from all sides.

    Stu (pidass),

what exactly is the republican proposal, sit around and let private insurance companies gouge us for inadequate care? its what you republicans have been doing for the last 60 years. there’s a reason you lost the election. get over it, move out of the way, and let the adults take charge. you can whine in the lobby.

Common Sense, No I want the GOP plan universal Care Via private Sector.

This saves 900 Billion taxpayer dollars, everyone is Covered.

and they have better coverage than is proposed in the Government Sector option.

Common Sense, Answer this: if this “Government Option” is so good, then why did Congress exempt themselves, their staff and all federal employees from having this opition?

Remember when Gingrich took over the Congerss, the GOP passed a Rule that Congress had to follow the same laws it passed on the private sector. The Rule was voided when the Democrats took control of the Congress in 2007. Why?

JOEY it costs less than having Government Gouge us.

Remember, the proposal is to fund the “Governmetn Option” with Social Security and Medicaire funds.

I would rather pay for Private insurance, than to have my mothers Social Security Benifits spent on healthcare of those that do not contribute to the system

I will as you this question….

If Government Healthcare is better than Private Plans, then why does the healthcare plan, exempt Congress and Goverment workers and their Staffs, from the Government plan, and they keep their PRIVATE INSURANCE PLANS?

Remember Obama said he wanted the “Government option” to have the Same Coverage that he an congress receive. Their coverage is mandated PRIVATE INSURANCE PLANS OF THEIR CHOICE PAID FOR BY THE GOVERNMENT.

Which is the Same plan that the GOP proposes in their Universal plan.

    Nuff said

    Joey,

Were you so quick to advocate one party rule when the republicans were in control?

Why are you so quick now?

if the choice is a bad idea or nothing, judging by this plan then I would say do nothing. A bad plan is still a bad plan.

There are plenty of ideas being floated but it the Dem way or nothing. How can you honestly call it reform when major issues are not addressed.

Why not allow Walmart to offer basic health care coverage that can be sold to there customers but grouped in with their employees. That’s a pretty large block of people that would decrease the cost and allow greater access.

The government should be the place of last resort. Not the first option. If we really can’t figure out a better system that doesn’t require massive government intervention then we need to send some brighter people to Washington.

So, TNvolunteer wants to mandate that everyone gets private health insurance? That sounds like an awful lot of government control, especially for something that costs too much and doesn’t work. The health insurance companies have 30% overhead and profit-taking costs. This is totally wasteful and unnecessary. An insurance company has NEVER provided any care for anyone. Doctors and providers are the ones who provide healthcare. We should take out the corporate bureaucracy.
