Franklin Opts Out Of Guns And Parks

Posted on July 28, 2009 at 9:22 pm

From the Tennessean:

Franklin joins two other Williamson County governments in deciding to opt out of a state law allowing guns in parks.

City aldermen voted 6-2 Tuesday to keep handgun carry permit holders from bringing their weapons into city parks.

Mayor John Schroer and city department directors had opposed allowing guns in the parks. Aldermen Dana McLendon and Beverly Burger voted against opting out.

“People voting in favor of the resolution are afraid of the wrong people,” said McLendon, who has a handgun carry permit.

I’m sure you can all join Bill Hobbs in his pending boycott of Franklin city parks. The gazebo at Del Rio is no longer safe! Harlinsdale Farm is an accident waiting to happen! Watch your ass at Winstead Hill!
