Will Speaker Williams Be A ‘Bona Fide’ Republican Again?

Posted on July 19, 2009 at 5:36 pm

The prospects do look promising:

“I’m hoping they will take a look at what I have done as a Republican,” he said. “I want to be back in the state GOP, but I’m still going to do things my way.”

Williams said he has talked with some members of the Republican Executive Committee who would like to have his GOP credentials reinstated.

Asked about prospects for a change in Williams’ status as a Republican, Devaney said no executive committee members have approached him about a reversal, though he is aware that some support the idea.

“Our bylaws and the resolutions that come out of those bylaws have consequences. I believe in that,” Devaney said. “Having said that, I also believe that, as a Republican Party, we should have an open door. I feel, as a party, we have an obligation to listen to his supporters.”

This is a joke. I watched some very important conservative-supported stuff that didn’t make it out of committee. If this morally bankrupt liar, Kent Williams, is going to continue to run things in concert with Naifeh, and most likely with the support of Devaney, I see no point in voting for Republicans at all. Might as well vote for the “progressives” and see what we can get on gay equality, an issue I’ve sacrificed for immigration control.

As for immigration control, I know some Democratic candidates who are running for the legislature who would be tougher than many Tennessee Republicans on this issue.

Alabama GOPers are very worried that they have two Kent Williams in their state house caucus. Their actively searching for opponents right now to knock them off in the primary next year.
