Speaker Kent Williams on the charge that under his leadership the state House was in gridlock:

“Some newspaper reporters spoke of gridlock in the subcommittees, but I think the results speak differently. I am told by my staff that we passed more legislation than any time in the history of the state. I wouldn’t call that gridlock, but, I am not sure passing so much legislation is a good thing.”

Judiciary Committee with Rep. Kent Coleman as Chairman was a joke. I t moved at a snails pace. Not to mention Rep. Henry Fincher routinely ground things to a halt with his incessent lectures and diatribes. A new chairman in Judiciary would move the seession along.
