Never Heard Of Elmer’s Down There In Georgia?

Posted on July 17, 2009 at 3:39 pm

Former Georgia Gov. Zell Miller went and lost his mind worse than usual:

Our globe-trotting president needs to stop and take a break and quit gallivanting around,” Miller said, adding that White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel needs to put “Gorilla Glue” on his chair to keep him in the Oval Office.

Two black leaders who know Miller well said they were not offended by the remark. The Rev. Joseph Lowery, a civil rights leader, noted the glue is a brand name. “I ignore it,” he said. “I consider the source and go about my business.”

This is not racist. Anyone who hasn’t used Gorilla Glue (it actually is a superior brand of adhesive) might be forgiven, but come on, folks. This is whaargarble on par with the dijon mustard burger scandal.

Autoegrat. Stop the madness. I dont feel it was spit in your face RACIST or an act of tremendous racial injustice, BUT he could have just said glue. With all the monkey posters and sayings about Obama and black all together through out history, one would tend to think a (educated) man would think first.
But like Frederick Douglas once said, “no man not a gentleman can insult me, and no man that is a gentleman would insult me”

If he was saying “Gorilla Glue” instead of “Elmer’s Glue” for any specific purpose other than its general utility, then it was an attempt at trolling. If you’re looking for racism, then look no further than the ignorant crap that’s been coming out of Pat Buchanan’s mouth recently.

Rev. Lowery has the right idea: ignore it.

Gorilla Glue rocks. It holds much better than Elmer’s and dries faster. No comparison.

One of my relatives from Georgia arrived today, and that’s the first thing he began talking about as soon as he sat down on the porch.

Who thinks that way? To hear “Gorilla” and thinks it’s being used to denegrate Obama’s Jewish chief-of-staff? You have to be a racist yourself to make that association.

Charles stop being naive. Monkey and gorilla references have been used to depict African Americans since slavery. Stop trying to sound over educated on race relations and stick with the historical framework of the use of the monkey and gorilla references toward black America.
