Can someone explain to me why we need a seperate, elected, juvenile court clerk? Can we have the Juvenile Court Judge appoint? Couldn’t Torrence or Rooker’s office handle it if we have to have an elected official do it?

Just seems to be a wasted job for hacks to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars in a pointless county wide election.

I rather like the David Smith pens though. I’ve got about 5 or 6 of them now. I swear, that guy is everywhere!

Gee, where do I start. Prior to 1990….The Juvenile Court Clerk was appointed by the Juvenile Court Judge. However, The Supreme Court of the State of Tennessee ruled that the Juvenile Court Clerk should be an elected position (independant) and not controlled by the Judge. In other words….The Fox should not be in control of the “Hen-House”….so to speak. The Supreme Court “Statute” requires that this position is to be maintained separate from the Court.

David Smith is the Candidate to watch in this race and it has nothing to do with the amount of money he has raised. David is the only Candidate in this race with actual hands on experience. Sure, Karen Johnson may have her business degree…..that she never fails to remind us of. Most of our Politicians in Washington are graduates of Harvard or Yale. We all know were that gets us. The Clerks Office needs someone who understands the flow of legal documents, has common sense and will be there to see the job gets done. I cannot think of anyone who would be better suited for that position than David Smith.

uh, seems like Judge Casey Moreland was the one featured in a recent newspaper article about him and his employees not coming to work. So if David was Juv Court Clerk, it’d be ‘here comes the new boss just like the old boss.’ We need someone who will show up to work in that office. He is not the one.
