Teddy Bart On His Prostitution Arrest: ‘I Made A Mistake’

Posted on July 9, 2009 at 10:36 am

Teddy Bart, the guest for the full hour on Mary Mancini’s internet version of her weekly Liberadio(!) radio show, made his first public comments on his arrest for solicitation of prostitution back in March.

Early on in the show during discussion on the subject of the death of Steve McNair the arrest was only obliquely referenced by Bart.

Talking about learning the news of McNair’s passing, Bart confided that he immediately started thinking about the issues surrounding the case as though he were preparing for his old show, “Teddy Bart’s Roundtable.”

While discussing what a “Teddy Bart’s Roundtable” discussion on Steve McNair might look like he admitted being interested in exploring the topic of imperfect people and what they do and “why good people do bad things.”

In the course of discussing his interest in the topic Bart said, “Obviously, I know something about that.”

In the back and forth with the host, Bart seemed to argue that public figures should only be judged by their public actions and not their private lives.

“Too many people confuse what we do with who we are,” explained Bart.

Bart quoted Frank Sinatra saying all he owed the audience was a good performance then adding, “Well, that’s debatable isn’t it because when you get to a certain point maybe you do owe more than that.”

“Just because a person can throw a football accurately doesn’t mean they have any less flaws and sometimes it seems we seem to expect them to,” said Bart.

Later in response to a direct question about his prostitution arrest by a caller (me) he said that he and his family have been dealing with the issue.

“I made a mistake and that’s all I really have to say about that,” said Bart.

Asked directly whether it was a pattern or just a one time thing, Bart indicated that it was an isolated incident.

earlier in the show Bart had wondered aloud why none of McNair’s friends had been asked whether having “girls on the side” was a pattern with McNair.

Wouldn’t it have been cool if he’d just answered that using a prostitute just seemed like it would be cheaper?

IMO the cops should not be in the business of trying to (en)trap customers of prostitutes by posing as one.

Again IMO it is just another slurpass way to produce revenue to keep his job.

Teddy Bart lost no respect from me. I also doubt that he lost respect from the minister at Cornerstone Church in Madison.(At least I would think not)

Wait a minute! ACK, did I read this right? You specifically called into Mancini’s show to ask that question? Seriously?

What a sanctimonious, pansy ass thing to do. If some anonymous caller had asked, fine…report it. But you specifically asked this to drive this post.

So Mary didn’t ask Bart about the prostitution arrest? — someone had to call in and do that? I didn’t hear the show.

No one had to call in and “do that.”

I guess its part and parcel of a generation raised on Springer.
