Stacey Campfield Running For Senate?

Posted on July 9, 2009 at 9:28 am

Metro Pulse reports:

Ellen Adcock is seriously considering a run for the state Senate seat being given up by state Sen. Tim Burchett, who is running for county mayor. She would probably face state Rep. Stacy Campfield in the Republican primary next year. Campfield’s House district is within Burchett’s Senate district and he is also lining up support for the race.

It is a foregone conclusion that Campfielsd will run to replace Burchett - almost a lock to be Knox County’s next mayor. Local GOP are gunning for him. Adcock - a former Victor Ashe employee in Knoxville Mayor’s office - has made one run for office, and barely came up short. Unless the Dems run someone strong, she’ll get some Dem crossovers in a district that once elected former State Senator Bill Owen.

    ACK -

As I said nearly 10 months ago, watch John Duncan, III. If he decides he wants the seat, the organization is there for him to claim it.

    Cheers,

Give the devil his due. It has all been said before. Every two year it is some unbeatable big name who can get Republicans and Democrats to come together and beat him. Every two year they lose and lose big. Knoxville likes him.

It’s not that Knoxville “likes” Campfield, it’s just that he works harder than the big name folks. He’s out knocking on voters doors, while they are busy at chicken dinners patting each other on the back. If someone would run against him and actually WORK at it, they would win. And it won’t be John Duncan III. No way will his family make that his first race. Watch for him at a county level in a fee office. (Think Sisk/Trustee successor and just like politics of old Steve Hall, Tim Hutchison, black wednesday folks, etc and Sisk will remain on as “right-hand man”) The Kicker? Watch for the youngest Duncan, an employee in Ballard’s office to run for Ballards seat. I like Duncan (Jr.) he’s done a great conservative job, however I don’t know that I want a Duncan empire of family running the entire county. Of course, as far as I am concerned, any Duncan is better than a Campfield. Of course, so is any Monkey.

OK, but I fail to see how running for Sisk or Ballard’s office leads to JDIII running for Congress. Knox County gives Shelby a run for its money with crooked county politics, so it would behoove JDIII to look towards Nashville.

I do agree with one thing - Ballard’s toast. The reassessments on real property have the natives restless. He’ll get killed next time around.

    Cheers,

    Rob
