Jeb Bush Doesn’t Know If President Obama Is A Socialist
By Kleinheider Posted on July 9, 2009 at 12:14 pmCNN:
Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush told an interviewer that he could not say whether or not President Barack Obama is a socialist, and that the president would not have been elected if he had been honest with Americans about his agenda.
Bush would not answer the question of whether he agreed with the assessment of some congressional Republicans that the president is a socialist. “I don’t know. Define socialism for me,” he told Esquire magazine. “It’s a word… I believe he’s a collectivist. He believes that through collective action, through government, you can solve more problems.” He added that he believed the word “socialism” was a pejorative, and “didn’t help” the GOP make its case.

You know, all of these labels - he’s this, he’s that … he’s an American, he has a different view of the role of government than perhaps Mister Jeb has, but he’s no less patriot. To suggest otherwise is to ignore the fact this basic argument has been going on since the time of the founding fathers. He’s right, the socialist charge isn’t helpful to the GOP - substituting ‘collectivist’ isn’t either. He’s a Democrat who believe in a more expanded role of government. That should be sufficient …
Dontcallme
Yes, his view of government is a socialist view.
And the Bushes are socialists, but not as much as the current POTUS
so·cial·ism (sō’shə-lĭz’əm)
n.
Any of various theories or systems of social organization in which the means of producing and distributing goods is owned collectively or by a centralized government that often plans and controls the economy.
Obama has done or is attempting in the Governmenttakeover of the Car industry, Financial industry, Energy industry, Telling CEOs how much they can make, which Car Dealerships can keep their contracts with the company, and healthcare industry.
If Bush cannot tell he is a socialist he is either Blind or does not understand what socialism is.
So this is the new GOP talking point? That Obama somehow misrepresented himself when he ran for office vs. how he is actually governing?
Boy, you people will just say anything, won’t you?
Though you may be half-right. New polls show that the President’s support among Independents may be slipping. Why?
Because he isn’t being aggressive enough in wiping out the Bush legacy (troops in Iraq, torture investigations, corruption, repealing Bush tax cuts, etc.)
Again, TNVol, be careful what you wish for. If Obama decides to become a “poll-driven” President, things are going to get worse for conservatives. And better for the country, I predict.
TNVol:
Obama has done or is attempting [socialism] in the Government takeover of the Car industry,
You have a point there. I was against the GM takeover as well.
Financial industry,
We may be in agreement, but you have to remember that this was started under a conservative President.
Energy industry
Didn’t happen. Not proposed either.
Telling CEOs how much they can make
Didn’t happen, unless you’re referring to salary caps for TARP welfare recipients which is reasonable.
which Car Dealerships can keep their contracts with the company
Conservative myth. Chrysler made that decision themselves, only turning to bankruptcy court for permission to follow through on it.
and healthcare industry.
There is no viable proposal to nationalize health care provision in this country.
Brawndo.. GW Bush was not a conservitive president.
The only Conservitive action he took was to cut taxes.
No Self Respecting Conservitive would push for
No Child Left Behind (authored by Ted Kennedy)
Medicare Drug Bill (Authored by Ted Kennedy)
Patriot Act (Passed by a Democrat Controlled Senate with a 98 Yes 1 Nay and 1 Abstain)
Support an Immigration Bill that gives amnisty to 12-18 Million Illegals
Bush is socialist light.
Obama is a Full Blown Socialist of the National Sect.
Really, not the Energy buiness I guess you forgot about Cap and Trade. and the Repeal of the Domestic Drilling option.
No Crysler and GM Made the Dealership Choices based on decisions made by CEOs appointed by the Tresury Department and court order. (GM more so than Crysler).
Let me get this straight you want to increase distritution of a good. in this case cars.. what you do not want to do is make it MORE INCOVENENT for people to BUY CARS.. closing down local distributers,
Thanks TN Vol … you’ve just proven you don’t know what you’re talking about.
