Her Daddy Was A Democrat

Posted on July 3, 2009 at 10:23 am

Robin Smith wants to see a little high speed rail:

Specifically pertaining to Oak Ridge, the first-generation Republican said she believes the city “sits to be the expert on new energy and new technologies” that can make a difference to the state and nation in terms of new energy sources and ways to reach them.

Smith said, in the long-term, if elected, she’d like to see some form of high-speed travel system between Chattanooga and Oak Ridge that could take advantage of all East Tennessee has to offer, as well as create a better working relationship between communities within the 11 counties that comprise the Third District.

LOL, Robin. This is quite out of touch. High speed rail needs to go between populated areas first. Secondly, the stimulus dollars are in place for several areas to get high speed rail but I didn’t hear you supporting that plan. All you care about is your little district three and no one else that makes you a Pork Spending Queen.

Just goes to show that even in Tennessee, the Republicans have to run on “big government” Democratic ideas to get elected.

So LA to Las Vegas was wasteful, but the traffic from Chattanooga to Oak Ridge is gonna be sustainable? LOL … gotta love it. While you’re at it, how about one from Erwin to Elizabethton? Or Jonesborough to Blountville - think of the tourists who could come visit the Ramsey homestead!

I like the Erwin to Elizabethton route. Personally, I’d go for the Maryville to Caryville line. Or the Jonesborough to Jacksboro. Or how about the state-of-the art Harrogate to Farragut line, just for LMU students.

Next up: the Jellico to Tellico Plains High Speed Rail. We’ll call it the Jellico Plains Special.

Atlanta to Nashville. Just to speed up the inevitable.
