The Return Of The Reptile

Jeff Woods reports that Bob Rochelle may be looking take yet another shot at reclaiming his old Senate seat now that Mae Beavers is out of picture:

That old warhorse Bob Rochelle is supposedly thinking about running again for Beavers’ Wilson County seat, but Democrats would do better to find someone else this time. Rochelle’s day has passed. That was clear from the ass-kicking he took from Beavers his last time out. The income tax did him in.

Please, please let Rochelle run. Not only would he guarantee this seat to remain in Republican hands, but he’d help our candidates throughout the state.

Rochelle would be shunned by the establishment. He is after all, Kurita’s attorney.

Rochelle would probably help the Dems if he got elected.None of the ones we have now can get anything done.

Rochelle is a huge liability to the D’s. The legislature has changed since he was last there. Please…Please bring some new blood

First of all, Ft. Campbell Dem is right. Rochelle probably crossed the Rubicon when he defended Kurita.

Second, there has to be some new Democrat out there that wants to run. Someone younger and without Rochelle’s baggage.

With all due respect, Rochelle’s day has come and gone.

Pro-income taxers like Bob Rochelle and Stratton Bone need to stay home next election cycle. Their day has come and gone.

Things change as others have said but the voters also have a funny way of surprising us all. If Rochelle finds enough support within his district then that’s the district’s business. He shouldn’t run a longshot campaign though on the hopes he’ll get the support later. I also think it’s an exaggeration to say Rochelle will have any impact on other races — he’s just not known across the state unless you’re a political junkie.

Nah, Rochelle won’t be the nominee. He spent all of his money in 2006. Also, there are some very good Democratic candidates that have been waiting for Beavers to announce this.

Wilson County has become much more republican since Bob Rochelle held office - and republicans will turn out heavy to vote against Rochelle.
