Ramsey Names Fundraising Team
Posted on June 22, 2009 at 2:33 pmAnd with the failure to pass the in-session fundraising bill, Ramsey will need all of these folks to use all of their powers and all of their skills — in a limited amount of time. From Team Ramsey operator Brad Todd:
Nashville, Tenn. – Lieutenant Governor Ron Ramsey announced today the six Statewide Finance Chairs for his gubernatorial campaign, bringing a depth of campaign experience nationally and within Tennessee .
“I’m proud to have each of these well-respected and talented individuals’ endorsement and leadership for my campaign,” Ramsey said. “ Tennessee needs a Governor who is ready to be successful on Day One, with a grounding in the entrepreneurial sector that drives our economy. These leaders know what it takes to create jobs and that’s why I’m proud to have their support.”
Mike Curb, owner of Curb Records, one of the most successful independent record companies in the world.Alongside his music career, Curb has remained politically active for many years. He is the former lieutenant governor of California , a role in which he served as acting governor for one year. Curb also served as National Finance Chairman for the Republican National Committee, where he led the party’s nationwide fundraising effort.
James Ayers, owner of FirstBank Tennessee in Parsons, Tennessee and one of the state’s most prominent businessmen with holdings in a wide variety of businesses, including financial services and real estate.
Ayers started the Ayers Foundation, which supports a wide range of programs and institutions with an emphasis on education in his home county of Decatur, in Henderson County and across the state of Tennessee . He also established and funded the Ayers Institute at Vanderbilt University, which conducts advanced cancer research, and the Ayers Children’s Hospital in Jackson , Tenn.
Albert McCall, Sr. owner of century-old, D.T. McCall and Sons, will also represent Team Ron Ramsey. Albert’s keen business sense has made his family’s business grow from a general store to a to the 49th largest furniture and appliance store in the United States . For twenty years Albert advertised with live commercials on the “Ralph Emery Show.” Business boomed and Albert became a popular TV personality. At that time “The Ralph Emery Show” had the highest lead in audience to “The Today Show” in the whole country.
Jimmy Wallace, former State Legislator for ten years, and chairman of the Madison County Republican Party is a solid addition to the Ramsey Finance Leadership team. Mr. Wallace served as the Campaign Manager for Bill Frist in 1990, as well as the Rural West Tennessee Coordinator for Fred Thompson’s Senate race in 1994 and 1996. He was also serves on the State Election Commission.
Wallace is the owner of Wallace-Harris Company, a commercial real estate firm in Jackson, Tenn. and a retired Lieutenant of U.S. Navy. He is married to Sally Roland of Jackson , Tennessee, and has a daughter, Lee Ellen Wallace Driver and three grandchildren.
B.C. “Scooter” Clippard, former National Fundraising Chairman for Fred Thompson, and former National Finance Co-Chair for John McCain 2008 will also bring his political experience to the Ramsey Campaign. In 1998, he served as state co-finance chairman for Tennessee Governor Don Sundquist’s re-election campaign, and in 2004, he was recognized as a Super-Ranger for the Bush-Cheney re-election victory effort at the Republican National Committee.

So what will these guys do from January-May of next year when Ron can’t raise money?
Who says Ramsey can raise money now?
Now ain’t the problem…going dark for 5 months during an election year against Haslam is.
Damn, Looks like Ramsey is the one to beat. This kind of team doesn’t get together without getting something done! And I’m a Democrat. Looks like Ron will occupy the bunker on Curtiswood.
ACK -
Albert McCall is a riot. He is simply too cool for school.
Cheers,
Rob
“He was also serves on the Senate Election Commission.”
Maybe the Ramsey campaign needs a new flack. Evidently they meant Wallace serves on the STATE election commission.
You’re right, Gavin. Under the Jimmy Wallace bio, I’m still wondering for what office Bill Frist ran in 1990.
Clayton–Another good catch. To my knowledge, Frist never ran for office before 1994. What gives with the fact checking at Team RR?
How is it that a member of the state election commission can serve on a candidate’s finance committee? Talk about not passing the smell test . . .
McCall is on his team. He is one of the dirtest republicans in the business.
