You Really Want To Be THAT Guy?
By Kleinheider Posted on June 2, 2009 at 8:46 amWhenever you’re in a public place–a bar, a restaurant, a dentist’s or doctor’s office–and they’ve got a TV on showing the Fox Terrorism Promotion Channel, a/k/a “Fox News,” ask them very politely to change the channel or to turn it off.
I’ve done this at my dentist’s office, with immediate success, and I plan on doing it elsewhere.
If someone asks why, just tell them that you can’t stand idly by while a TV network promotes domestic terrorism; if they refuse to change the channel, take your business elsewhere.

I do that all the time. My wingnut eye doctor in Brentwood (*cough*cough*PRIMARY EYECARE*cough*cough) always has Fox News on the TV. I just tell them I don’t need to listen to Republican Party propaganda while getting my annual eye exam. Although truth be told. 75% of what Fox News airs is silly celebrity gossip and shark bite garbage news stories. The remaining 25% is RNC propaganda though.
Hell, yes. I am that guy. Do it all the time. I have no qualms telling them I don’t want to watch that crap. What the hell, I ask them to change ballgames, too. Haven’t had anyone complain yet.
And some think bloggers are socially retarded nitwits. Can’t imagine where they’d get that idea.
Geez, Roger, what bars and restaurants do you frequent? I’ve never been in one that wouldn’t change the channels if customers asked. Maybe I’m misunderstanding your comment because this isn’t an unreasonable request.
Screw that. It’s their business let them watch what they want, you are only there for a short time before getting taken care of. Whiny liberal bullies.
Screw you, Drew. You’d be the first one bitching if they had “Bowling for Columbine” playing. I’m a patron. They’re a business. They’ll do it to keep me coming back. Again, it’s no different than asking them to turn on a certain ballgame. If that’s what the people around the bar want to watch, that’s what they turn on.
Also, a smart businessperson wouldn’t run the risk of offending a significant portion of their customers. They probably wouldn’t turn on any political programming.
Hey guys, lighten up on Ben. I’m thinking about doing the same thing - anytime I walk into a place playing MSNBC, CNN, or Lifetime!
Just another leftie promoting the kind of hatret that gets soldiers in Arkansas shot and killed.
I’ll start doing what anonymous suggests. I generally believe in free speech.
Anon, feel free. I don’t know where you guys eat and hang out, but it’s no big deal changing the channels where I hang out.
DADvocate, your comment is too moronic to deserve retort. I guess you are also arguing that Bill O’Reilly is responsible for the murder of Dr. Tiller.
“If someone asks why, just tell them that you can’t stand idly by while a TV network promotes domestic terrorism…”
Are you kidding me? Seriously, are you kidding? Fine, you don’t like the “conservative slant” of Fox News, but promoting terrorism??? The left has been saying FNC is biased and promoting the Republican agenda to no avail for years and the ratings continue to stay high, I guess phase 2 is to accuse the network of promoting terrorism???
You have got to get real. Do you people know how crazy you sound? So FNC did some stories on Tiller, they’re culpable for his death now? I guess if someone assasinates Dick Cheny, Keith Olbermann is responsible since just last week he compared him to a terrorist and Nazi. This is getting ridiculous.
What do you propose next when your little “quarantine” of FNC fails? Is Homeland Security going to have to step in?
The lefties don’t care about the truth, fairness, or even sounding crazy. Any lie to push their agenda will do.
So, let’s get this straight - you wingnuts wanna call out and harass police officers and law enforcement officials who stood behind Bredesen in support of his veto, but you think people who ask to change a freakin’ TV channel is going too far … that’s pretty rich.
you guys may control the legislature of tn, but this is a center-left nation now - get used to it.
DADvocate sez: “The lefties don’t care about the truth, fairness, or even sounding crazy. Any lie to push their agenda will do.”
It’s called PROJECTION, Dad. That’s exactly what you’re doing. You’re projecting your own tendency to lie onto the other side to, at best, imply that “both sides do it”.
Here’s your f**king truth, man.
I have been watching this board for several months now and I have NEVER read a post by a liberal or progressive who was LYING. Maybe you don’t agree with the liberals’ point of view, but the “lefties” definitely ain’t lying about what they believe and what the facts are. As I think has been obvious for the last 8 years, the Left, whether you agree with them or not, has not been lying to make its point.
Now conservatives on the other hand…
* WMD’s in Iraq = LIE
* Saddam connected to 9/11 attacks = LIE
* Bush got more votes than Gore = LIE
* Global warming isn’t caused by people = LIE
* Bush inherited a recession from Clinton = LIE
* “We do not torture” = LIE
The list goes on. And yes, these are all documented claims made either by Bush, Cheney, or Republican Party leadership.
The lies coming from farther down the GOP food chain - from people like you, DAD - are even worse. Whether its questioning the President’s citizenship or claiming that healthcare reform will lead to rationing or saying that Democrats are “soft on defense”, the conservative rank-and-file have no shame, no ethics, and no guilt about telling bald-faced lies.
Go ahead and tell me I’m wrong - all you’d be doing is telling yet another lie.
Very well done, Spaz.
DADvocate, otherwise known as Tony Gottlieb, thinks Bill O’Reilly killed Dr. Tiller. Whodathunkit?
