Fmr. Gov. Winfield Dunn Endorses Chris Devaney For TNGOP Chair
Posted on May 21, 2009 at 9:34 amFrom a press release:
Today former Republican Governor Winfield Dunn endorsed Chris Devaney for Tennessee Republican Party Chairman. Governor Dunn made the following statement about the endorsement:
“The 2010 elections in Tennessee will be the most critical for our state government in generations. Three fine men are candidates for the Chairmanship of our Republican State Executive Committee. Of the three, there is one I am certain can hit the ground running from day one. That person is Chris Devaney. I have known Chris since we worked together in 1996 campaigning with Fred Thompson to assist state legislative candidates. He has the proven fund-raising ability and grassroots campaign experience that our Party needs at this time. I’m honored to call him my friend and fully endorse his efforts to be our next State Party Chairman.”
Devaney was pleased to receive the endorsement and responded by saying: “I am honored to have the support of Governor Winfield Dunn who has been instrumental in building up the Republican Party across Tennessee.”
Winfield Dunn was elected Governor of Tennessee in 1970. Dunn, who once served as Shelby County Republican Party Chairman, has been credited as one of the founders of the modern Republican Party in the state. He and his wife Betty live in Nashville.

The same guy that was Bryson Campaign Chairman, yea he just lost this race
Dunn has more class in his pinkey than someone like you paul.
Gov. Dunn’s endorsement would be the advice I would certainly feel comfortable with were I a County Chairman voting in this contest. Certainly agree with Allen on this one.
county chairmen don’t vote in this election.
