Naifeh To Go Heeled In Legislature If Permit Holder Ban Is Lifted

Posted on May 12, 2009 at 6:59 am

Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey and Speaker Kent Williams have the authority to allow lawful handgun permit holders to bring guns into Legislative Plaza. If they do lift the ban, Speaker Emeritus Naifeh will be strapped as well, just in case tax protesters start getting any ideas:

“According to the NRA, handgun permit holders are more responsible with their firearms than off-duty police officers,” [Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey] said. “I believe that.”

If the ban on guns in the Legislative Plaza is lifted, he said, 220,000 trained and responsible permit holders would have the right to bring their guns in, but 6 million other Tennesseans would still be banned.

The two speakers would have to agree to overturn the ban imposed by Naifeh and Wilder. Naifeh said he hopes it will remain in place.

“I’d hate to think of people having guns up here in ‘02,” he said, referring to mass protests when the Legislature considered a state income tax in 2002.

“If they do (allow guns), I guess I’ll have to pack mine,” said Naifeh,
one of 34 state legislators who are listed as holding handgun carry permits.

[...] Jimmy Naifeh, some made up title, doesn’t like or trust gun owners. [...]

Naifeh sez: “I’d hate to think of people having guns up here in ‘02,” referring to mass protests when the Legislature considered a state income tax in 2002.

How soon Boss Naifeh forgets the inconvenient details. Some people did have guns at those protests. The state troopers. And Naifeh sent ‘em outside to intimidate the protestors - which included grandmothers and moms with kids in strollers - and prevent them from entering their own state capitol building.

    One trooper assaulted a protestor.

Naifeh has just given us a beautiful depiction of what tyranny looks like when it is a toddler. He used every tool at his disposal to try to ram an income tax into law, while also sending out armed troopers to intimidate dissenters or, at the least, separate them from the lawmakers they were attempting to persuade.

The primary purpose and rationale for the Second Amendment is NOT hunting or sport shooting, and it is NOT self defense against burglars and street thugs.

The primary purpose and rationale for the Second Amendment is to make impossible the rise of tyranny.

Would Naifeh have ordered the protestors barred from the capital while he attempted to pass an income tax that was opposed by the majority of the people - if some of them had been armed?

This is quite funny to think about… Would people being able to carry guns there make the legislature more friendly to their constituents’ wishes?

I think Armed Bear has slid “Red Dawn” into his DVD player one too many times…

Since no poster has yet said it, where the hell does this jackass get off thinking he should be allowed something that other state citizens are not allowed? Put him on a rail, cover him in tar and feathers, and escort him to the state line. What a jerk.

I think Tom Paine forgets exactly the principles upon which this country was founded.

I hope the Speakers will decide to lift the ban; I will be filing legislation next session that would do so. Its time to put our money where our mouth is. If we believe that our carry permit holders are truly responsible, and I do, we should have no concerns with them carrying in our capitol and legislative plaza.

Like so many other positions he has taken, former speaker Naifeh is wrong again! Guess he remembers Boss Crump from West Tennessee who was the baddest of the bad…Hey Ned Ray, will you give the guy a job so as to get out of our hair? I am not falling off my chair on this gun thing unless an attempt is made to take mine…I think politics should have nothing to do with guns..get the anit-gun lobbies out of the State Capitol, send Mr. Naifeh back to his hometown and let’s get on with our lives!

Former Speaker Naifeh seems to really like stirring the pot of “what if” about legal gun permit carriers. The truth of the matter is he would be hard pressed to site one instance anywhere permits are allowed where his fears of mayhem have been realized. WHat all these anti-gun theorists fail to acknoledge is permit holders are some of the most law abiding and safety minded people you could run across.

I would love to know who is pulling Naifeh’s chain, check that, purse strings. He needs to find something to do other than attempt to diminish the rights of law abiding citizens.

Is Naifeh actually admitting that they were so arrogantly “Out of Touch” with the citizens that his personal safety was at risk? If so, this admission speaks volumes about the “Let them eat cake” mentality of his regime…as does it speak to Kent Williams endorsement and ascension to power with Naifeh’s support. Gov. Phil is probably going to cringe when he hears this one! This is the reason in my opinion that the Dems are out of power here…and the Republican’s are out of power in DC. Politicians better find some integrity…and start to listen to the taxpaying folks they represent. This is the same arrogance displayed by the Nashville Chamber in its control of the Metro School Board and its attempts to control the Metro Council. Are you listening Mayor Dean?

Speaking of Naifeh, what became of the controversy over the extreme high pay of his secretary/Assistant
after he was dethrowned. He also sided with former senator Ford about the special penality in sentencing of anyone physically assaulting an elected representative.

As screwy as the state legislators are, I would think they would all fear for their lives. The rest of you need to read some history of the period in which the second amendment was written and go see some Revolutionary War reenactments. My greatest fears are untrained and unskilled gun owners and mentally unstable gun owners.

As far as untrained and unskilled gun owners, I guess
    you mean the common criminals.

Carry holders are generally far better trained
    and responsible.

I think it’s great that Jimmy Naifeh is packing a gun. He certainly needs one.

Remember the quote as Thomas Jefferson pointed out quite clearly, “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.”

Jimmy, you’re no patriot! Guess that puts you in the tyrant column. So keep practicing your draw and keep your bodyguards close.

Are you kidding? Speaker Hemmeroitus Naifeh is already packing. I just hope he remembers when he used to be an honorable man (An Army Officer). Otherwise he may forget which end of his weapon to point downrange if he has to draw it.
