Rep. Lincoln Davis Lays Hands On Chip Forrester

Posted on May 4, 2009 at 7:42 pm

The highlight of the TNDP Summit in Monteagle: Rep. Lincoln Davis puts his arm around the chairman of his party and says the following.

“I’m not completely through yet set back down. Also about a year and three or four months ago, many of us thought Hillary Clinton was gonna be the nominee — and she would have been a good one.

But there was this young fella, who knew how to organize at the grassroots level. We’ve got a chairman who understands that, too. And those of you in this room understand that. It is the grassroots organization that will win back the majority in Tennessee. Chip, thank you.”

Forces allied with Davis have long been suspected (along with those of the governor) of being the instigators behind the recent discord within the party.

They can talk about how its a new day and how much they’ve changed all they want but its really the same old same old with them. Just look at Madison County. T. Robert Hill(aka the king of west tennessee trial lawyers) is now the new county chairman. Ned Rays son will probably be the nom. for them next year. Just more of the same …..insiders and famous pols getting the plum jobs.

Oh yeah, God forbid that the relatives of people killed or irreparably damaged by heavily-marekted, rushed-to-market yet completely untested medications receive compensation for their grief and injuries. It’s called justice, Dan. Look it up.

I wouldn’t be too quick to say McWherter will be the nominee. This race is wide open. Could be on both sides. I hear a lot of talk from Republicans that dislike Haslam.

It IS open, there are people still to get in. Cammack talks about the future, but has his GOP past to overcome. Every time McWherter talks, he will unintentionally remind people he’s NOT Ned Ray. McMillan is busting her butt and going everywhere, but still has work to do. Herron’s a nice guy and very personable, but I think either he or Mike get out.

    And then there’s Kyle.

On the GOP side, I see it coming down to Haslam and Ramsey, as I just don’t see Wamp cutting it, and I don’t see Gibbons hitting the 7-10 split.

Ramsey scares me, he is the LAST person I want to see as Governor.
