The TNDP Summit
By Kleinheider Posted on May 2, 2009 at 4:19 pmIt’s happening now. Cyrus is there:
Here we are at the TNDP Summit. Chip Forrester opened followed by Mike Stewart, our/my 52nd District Representative. They all said similar things about the consequences of losing races in 2010. Gary Odom is now speaking.
The party is tweeting the festivities. Check out Mary Mancini for to catch reports from her and others witnessing the action.

I’ve been around Democratic Politic’s for along time, and I have never seen such excitment and energy. There was well over 300 people in attendance and the message was honest and straight forward. Many members General Assembly were in attendance, such as Mike Stewart, Ty Cobb, Joanne Favors, Curt Cobb, Sherry Jones, Brenda Gilmore,Johnny Shaw, Jeanie Richardson, George Fraley, Bill Harmon,Charles Curtiss and Gary Odom, From the Senate Roy Herron, Jim kyle, and Eric Stewart, and others such as Kim Mcmillian and Ward Cammack, Paula Flowers who is running for Congress, Mike Terry and Kent Syler were there representing Bart Gordon, but the Highlight of the event is when Lincoln Davis after giving one of the most inspiring speeches that I have ever heard put his arm around Chip Forrester and said united we will win in 2010.
Way to go, Mike Turner. That’s good news. Let’s take back the House. Senate, too, for that matter. And keep the governor’s chair.
Mike is right, it was AWESOME, I had never heard Lincoln Davis before and he destroyed my preconceptions, that’s for sure.
Big props to Mike as well for all his work!
I must agree with everyone on here - it was an INCREDIBLE weekend. We had over 300 people in attendance, there were representatives from nearly every possible group (electeds, party leaders, grassroots, minority, GLBT, etc.), and the excitement and energy was palpable.
There were so many highlights that it hardly seems fair to pick one - hearing from our State Representatives, getting pumped up by Mike Turner. Bob Moser’s Blue Dixie Luncheon, the training seminars, the BBQ, the Gubernatorial panel, and networking with people from all over the state - but I have to hold Lincoln Davis’s speech up as the pinnacle. Well-spoken and fiery, he had the group hanging on his words and received several standing ovations (as did our Chair, by the way). When he praised Chip Forrester for his focus on grassroots organizing, shook his hand, and put his arm around him, it brought the house down.
…and speaking of bringing the House down - the Republicans are on notice for 2010, ’cause we’re going to bring down their control of the House and take it back in a way seldom seen in TN.
Thanks to everyone who came - our job is just beginning, but I think we’ve shown this weekend that we are, indeed, up to the task.
