Lamar Upbraids Specter For Party Switch

Posted on April 28, 2009 at 2:06 pm

Ken Whitehouse has the statement from the senior Senator:

“I am very disappointed for the country, because it will make more difficult the Senate’s ability to restrain one-party rule. Historically, Americans have not liked what Alexis de Tocqueville called a ‘tyranny of the majority,’ and they are now more likely to get a taste of it.”

Maybe if Lamar! would stop pushing nukes and beating up France…

Of course, there was no talk of “one-party rule” and “tyranny of the majority” when the Republicans had it. By stealing an election, nonetheless.

    How the mighty have fallen.

Lamar! has a very short memory - perhaps early onset Alzheimers? Maybe we can get Bill Frist to watch a tape of Lamar! and make a diagnosis …

Somehow I think that if Tennessee had lost 200,000 Republican voters in last election and he was facing a tough primary challenge, Lamar! would do the same thing as Specter. Pretty sure I am right about that.

Well, considering that Zach Wamp once supported Jimmy Carter and Lamar! voted for Frank Clement, I think Lamar! ought to understand a little something about switching parties. Lamar! is a decent fellow, but he’s a little like the pastor whose daughter gets pregnant. He probably needs to spend a little more time worrying about what’s going on at home, and a little less time pontificating about the evils of tyranny and socialism.

Arlen Specter will be as independent a Democrat as he was a Republican, we all know that. The only difference is that he can make votes of conscience now without having his own party throw him under the bus.

Anyone decrying some lost ideal of responsible two party statesmanship is a little late to the game. There are a handful of individual Senators, Rs and Ds, who are deliberate and moderating voices. Increasingly, however, this is a discussion that will take place within the parties, not between them.

Also Dems will win 4+ Senate seat in the next cycle…and that’s by elections, not tyranny.

Lamar! is part of the problem. You know, he just gave money to Specter’s re-election campaign just a few weeks ago… Isn’t it time for Lamar! to go home? Oh wait… you mean we have to wait 5 years? Ughhh.

Well, Sandy, it appears that Matthew Hurtt is ready to organize the opposition to Lamar!, so all you need to do is get those 200K voters to switch back to Democrat. I’ll put a call in to Bill Hobbs and see if he could draw some more cartoons.

I think in 5 years we will have those 200k voters back in the Democratic Party. The TNGOP is doing a good job of digging their grave.

Tell me again how Democrats did in Tennessee last year? And, with your exceptional party leadership, how you predict faring in 2010? Surely this post was sarcasm, wasn’t it?

Too bad, George, you didn’t read the first part of the sentence. “It states in five years”, but I think 2010 will be a surprise for the many of you “bonafide Republicans’, you should expect some defeats from the lousy way you have governed during your tenure.

The state house turned on Nathan Vaughn’s district … since then the Republicans have angered upper east tn republicans who - will probably not vote Democrat but, in a non-presidential year - may not vote at all to show their dislike for the state GOP

Mumpower’s definitely vulnerable, ’cause Kent Williams is considered a martyr in Upper East TN and he’s a non-visitor to Johnson Co., right next door. They know him by name up there, not by face or deed. And Shipley’s talked himself nearly into clowndom taking over for Vaughn.
And Hill? Well … LOL …
