Tennessee Democrats Are Not Baby-Killing, Gun-Stealing Tree Huggers
By Kleinheider Posted on April 27, 2009 at 7:49 amOn political matters, [Rep. John] Litz agreed with Tennessee Democratic Party Chairman Chip Forrester’s anticipated role in doing more grass-roots organizing, while other Democrats take on fund raising and candidate recruitment.
“I think we’ve allowed the Republican Party to tell people what we are … (and) it’s not a true picture,” Litz claimed. “The Democratic Party I believe in is a big tent. We have some people who are far, far to the left, but we have some people who are very conservative. I would consider myself a moderate conservative. … I don’t think the Tennessee Democratic Party that I’m a part of is like a California Democrat. We’re not baby-killing, gun-stealing tree huggers.”

With all due respect Rep. Litz. Your party is run by Chairman Chip Forrester who is in fact a “baby-killing, gun-stealing tree hugger”. In addition your protests fall on deaf ears when all your party did was obstruct legislation that promoted life in the womb and the exercise of the 2nd Ammendment. For years Democrats in the State House bottled up legislation in committee refusing to allow even a floor vote on the “right to life” and the “right to carry”. Now all of a sudden there is a change in the House leadership and we are supposed to believe that Democrats all these years wern’t obstructionist? Rep. Litz whatever you are selling Tennesseans are no longer buying.
Hey Mike - You are an idiot.
Gee, cary, what did Mike say that was wrong? The truth hurts, doesn’t it?
It would if it actually *were* the truth, instead of a bundle of baloney being dressed up and passed off as filet mignon.
So Litz claims those of us who are for common-sense regulations on guns and abortion, and who value the environment, are wackos who don’t belong in the Democratic Party, eh?
Nice job. Really nice. And I don’t expect to see anyone involved with the state Party say boo about this, either. Litz can go to hell before I or anyone I know gives him two cents to put out this stuff.
Rep. Litz just exemplifies part of the problem of why Democrats can’t get ahead in Tennessee…
He has ceded the terms of the debate and adopted Republican framing to make his point.
What he should have said was not what Tennessee Democrats are NOT because you have just validated the bullshit GOP memes. What Litz should have said is what Tennessee Democrats ARE. That would be - committed to helping working people get ahead in today’s economy, making sure that our children have a top-notch education system from Pre-K through college, and keeping our state’s drinking water and wildlife preserves clean and healthy.
But no, Litz sandbags his own party by adopting their “baby-killer, gun-stealing” lies to try and make a point.
And you wonder why these idiots keep losing. They know nothing about messaging or framing. Toss that in with their inability to engage the grassroots of their own party or to present meaningful legislation that regular people (not lobbyists) care about and you have a prescription for continued electoral failures.
Thanks but no thanks for the “help”, Rep. Litz.
Bingo! We should be defining ourselves and them. If you’re playing defense you’re doing it wrong.
[...] Dear State Representative John Litz, [...]
Spaz:
You have eloquently stated what the Tennessee Democrats are, and I agree that they are “committed to helping working people get ahead in today’s economy, making sure that our children have a top-notch education system from Pre-K through college, and keeping our state’s drinking water and wildlife preserves clean and healthy.” The only problem is, The Tennessee Republicans are for this too - but in a fiscally responsible way. The problem is that you failed to mention that the Tennessee Democrats are very much a party of “baby-killing, gun-stealing tree huggers,” to quote Rep Litz - and for that, you will continue to lose elections in this state.
Sorry but when you associate with a party know for being populated and run by “baby-killing, gun-stealing tree huggers”, then it is only logical to assume you are also one and the same.
If not, then one must wonder why you continue to associate yourself with such people.
BTW, here’s a question for you concerning those states which allow abortion without informing parents: Is there any OTHER type of surgery that a child can elect to have without consent of their parent or legal guardian?
Except that none of that is true, chiefpayne.
No babies are being killed by Democrats.
No Democrats are stealing - or trying to steal - your guns.
And no Democrats are hugging trees.
Your talking points are just bullshit rhetoric which distort legitimate arguments about government meddling in healthcare decisions, about risks to public safety, and about making sure our air and water are clean and safe.
I mean, I expect losers like you and the rest of the right-wing riff-raff to think this kind of goofy shit is still taken seriously, but I expect better from an elected representative who’s supposed to know better and act like a damn adult.
I always love it when liberals like spaz run out of answers, don’t know the answer or don’t want to answer the questions - that’s when they start calling us names.
Dems/Reps,Reps/Dems,Tennesseans?! What I’m concerned about are these stinking Liars that couldnt tell you the first thing about wiping their own butts. I honestly cant figure out how these politicians that I’m voting against are still getting voted into office and dont understand how some of the crap gets voted on and it dont have anything to do with bettering my community or any around me! I’m sorely disappointed in our states legislators!! Waaa! I’m done!
