Beware Of The Ides Of Martial

Posted on April 1, 2009 at 2:12 pm

Republicans want to make sure their guns don’t get snagged by the Fedgov if our little experiment in Democracy starts falling apart:

The sponsor, House Republican caucus chair Glen Casada, explained martial law might be declared “by the governor, president or somebody like that” usually at a time of “invasion or civil unrest.”

“I’m a firm believer that an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure,” Casada told the subcommittee. “Obviously, things are bad under martial law, and we’d need our weapons to protect ourselves.”

I don’t think Reynolds makes enough tin foil for a hat thick enough to protect this guy from alien brain waves.

Remember, Casada was sent to the legislature by the Republican powers in Williamson County because they thought he would do less damage there than on the county commission.

Never mind that, by definition, civilian authority is moot in times of martial law…

Oh for crying out loud, is it possible that the Republicans could worry about something REALLY IMPORTANT TO PEOPLE RIGHT NOW like creating some freaking JOBS??!!! Hello??!!

I’m about fed up with these idiots. Guns, God, gays and abortion is all they know how to legislate. When it comes to the daily struggles that people in the real world face, like putting food on the table or sending their kids to college, they don’t have a clue.

No one is trying to take your precious guns, for chrissakes. But last time I checked Tennessee still had some of the highest unemployment in the country.

Southern Beale: Just FYI–of the gun bills that have passed the House so far, two are sponsored by Democrats and one sponsored by a GOP. The GOP bill clarifies the information the dept of safety can collect on an individual taking a gun safety course for a hand gun permit. The Dems are filing gun bills left and right. I guess they got the message from the voters on November 4th here in Tennessee. So far the four long time GOP sponsored gun bills that came out of the study committee haven’t passed yet and guess what, one of them is now sponsored by Democrat Harry Tindell–that would be the gun bill to allow guns in all our parks. yes, I said a Democrat has the bill that’s moving to bring guns to our parks!

So, I guess some Dems are focusing on gun bills instead of unemployment, ya think?
