It Ain’t Just Forrester

The national Democratic Party is having a bit of trouble fundraising as well:

In the wake of the Democratic National Committee’s surprisingly weak February fund raising, Democratic insiders are questioning the unusual arrangement that has Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine serving as a part-time chairman until his term as governor ends next January.

The disappointing results come despite conditions that are ripe for a Democratic Party fund raising windfall: The party faithful are still buzzing from Barack Obama’s November presidential victory, Democrats have large congressional majorities and Obama is riding high in the polls despite a bleak economic picture. On top of that, the party is now in possession of the vaunted 13-million-address e-mail list he used to shatter fundraising records in 2008.

I guess that means there will be no DNC welfare check for Chip. He really is on his own. :(

Man, I have never seen such a bunch of naysayers. What part of “Democrats are exhausted” do you guys not get? We just finished up the longest damn campaign in history. The freaking primary went on so long that there was a question at the first debate about whether or not the US should take a tough stance on Caesar’s invasion of Gaul.

But you guys are acting like it’s the end of the world if, amid a near-total collapse of our economic system, no one is backing the Brinks truck up to the Democratic Party.

Did the DC get just 14% of what they raised in the previous cycle? I doubt it. But the TNDP did. Forrester is a failure here under any circumstances.

The news keeps getting worse for Chip Forrester. There will be no Washington bailout for the TNDP. Looks like he completely wasted all that TNDP money he spent on his weekend (duly noted) trip to DC.

I haven’t read that entire article, but there are a few things to note:

    1. Did the Obama campaign really turn their email list over to the DNC? Campaigns usually don’t give up their lists, even to the parties.

    2. How is fundraising going for the DCCC, the DSCC, and for Obama’s campaign? That’s where the money should go. Also, how much money did the Obama inauguration raise?
