Will Bill Freeman Get Ousted As TNDP Treasuer For His GOP Donations?

Posted on March 3, 2009 at 8:01 am

Not bloody likely reports Jeff Woods:

Asked last night what will come of the hubbub over Freeman’s contributions, Mullins told Pith, “Probably nothing. You don’t want me to [deceive] you, do you?”

No one asked for Freeman’s resignation during an executive committee conference call at the height of the controversy. “When it came time to actually ask in that conference call, nobody asked him to step down,” says Mullins, a Morristown farmer and businessman. “If the majority says this is acceptable, I guess I have to go along.”

Wow, so Mullins slams the executive committee for not having the balls to “do the right thing.” What a bunch of gutless wonders.

The most shocking item in his comments is that Chipper approves of Freeman working against Bredesen. Are you kidding me? The TNDP chair approves of Freeman working against the only Democrat to win a statewide election in Tennessee for almost two decades? He approves of working against the sitting Democrat governor?

Is he insane? I’m also willing to bet this ain’t over.

Mullins might have to go along to get along, but I and many, many rank and file Democrats don’t.

Bill Freeman funded racist Republican attacks. I won’t support the Tennessee Democratic Party as long as he is treasurer.

Chip promised us a new day, but this is the same old only money matters, backroom dealing that has wrecked the TNDP. It breaks my heart.

Good for Larry for managing expectations. Of course, based on the chairman vote, Chip and Freeman start 25 votes in the hole. Question is whether there’s eight or nine additional votes from people who are pissed off over being snookered in this matter. If not, then at a bare minimum Chip is forced to go through yet another painful, divisive vote that further tears apart the party. So on that count, I would say: Mission accomplished. If Freeman is ousted, then that’s just gravy. Beyond that, the news seems to be that Chip was aware of Freeman’s estrangement with Bredesen, but barrelled ahead with the appointment anyway. So question of the day: How stupid can Chip be?

What? Chip thinks it’s “OK” that Freeman tried to beat Harold Ford, Jr. and Phil Bredesen. I want an explanation. How is this “OK”?

You guys have beaten me enough. Give it a rest already.

Here come the Chipinsta trolls. Tell us, do you approve of your treasurer contributing to the RNC, the TNGOP, and Republican candidates and voting Republican?

How do you guys plan on building a successful party when Chipper continues his public war with Bredesen?

“Stop beating a dead horse.” That’s the best answer we get out of Chip and his people? What an arrogant and insulting thing to say. I guess Chip is far too powerful now to address the concerns of the little people.

Well, of course, their hope is that since they cannot win on the merits — that their attempts to defend the indefensible have been thoroughly thrashed — that simply ignoring it will make it go away.

That is why Chip directed his little boys Sean Braisted and Ben Vos to quit even trying to defend his GOP donating/GOP voting treasurer. They cannot possibly justify or defend a guy who did everything he could to defeat Bob Clement, Harold Ford Jr., and Phil Bredesen (in other words, all the Democrats who have sought statewide office in this decade). They cannot possibly justify or defend a guy who gave money to Mae Beavers, or $10,000 to the RNC to help elect Bush and Cheney, or $10,000 to the Tennesse Republican Party to help run racist attacks on Nathan Vaughan.

So now it’s “Oh, that’s old news, why are you still going on about it.” And no attempt to try and defend it anymore.

OK. Ignore it Chip, you dishonest, incompetent sack of shit. But there are those of us who will not forget it or ignore it. And when your fundraising results are revealed to be a failure, and when Jackson Day flops, and when your chickenshit Executive Committee timidly asks why Robin Smith is running circles around you EVERY SINGLE DAY, don’t blame those who got the finger from you and your little boys. Blame yourself. Well, you should blame yourself, but I know you won’t.

    Uh . . . Chipper . . . hunker down and ignore it ain’t working.

Last time I checked, Bredesen is a total scumbag. Freeman has every right to go against him for the good of Politics, Tennessee, and the Nation as a whole. Who would want Bredesen as head of Health and Human Services, this guy is a total slimeball.
