Not Trusting Freeman On The Button

Posted on March 1, 2009 at 7:04 pm

Ryan Kristopher explains why he cannot support a man who has given money to Republicans as TNDP treasurer:

Taking all of the money he has donated to the Republican cause out of the equation for argument sake, Mr. Freeman freely admits, or at least his voting record admits, to voting for Van Hilleary and Jim Bryson. This fact alone should disqualify him from ever holding a position in the TDP. Mr. Freeman made a conscious decision in the last two gubernatorial elections to vote for candidates that are 180 degrees opposite to everything for which the TDP stands. This has nothing to do with him not liking Governor Bredesen. Hell, I think Mary Pruitt is one of the worst legislators at the Plaza, but I would never think of voting for a right wing conservative Republican rather than her. Why? Because I know when she sits in a subcommittee or on the floor for a vote and an issue comes up that defines what a Democrat is (healthcare, quality public education, women’s reproductive rights), she is at least smart enough to push the button with the other Democrats. In a nutshell, Mr. Freeman can’t be trusted to push the button with the other Democrats.

So what now!? Freeman is the Treasurer and Forrester is the Chairman and there doesn’t appear like there is a dam thing you can do about it. In the infamous words of one much wiser than I; “good luck with that”.

Actually, Mike, I read on this and other blogs that the TNDP executive committee is circulating a resolution calling for Freeman’s ouster if he doesn’t resign.

I agree completely. As I’ve said over and over, this man funded, to the tune of over $20,000, the racists attacks the TNGOP and its candidates launched in 2006. He should not be a party officer.

I am still shocked this is a problem–especially in light of the fact that all the Dems on this blog were applauding Republican Kent Williams’ election to the House speakership by their 49 votes in the name of
    “BIPARTISANSHIP”!!!!!

You don’t like having a “traitor” in your midst?
    Poor babies.

Didn’t you Republicans rejoice when Kurita voted for Ramsey?

Sorry. I took time off to watch 60 Minutes. But I agree. Freeman must go. Everyone seems to realize it but Chip. So here’s the question for anyone bold enough to answer: In an age where a premium is placed on purity, how does Chip raise money among hardcore Democrats who won’t agree with Freeman’s GOP giving? Will they look past it (not likely)? Or will they find it disturbing and curtail their giving to Democrats (more likely)? And don’t give me a bunch of shit about bipartisanship. This is the Democratic Party for God’s sake. If we can’t have Democrats in the top offices, then what’s the use?

Holy shit, dan t! You’re right. I guess we’re being lulled to sleep by the constant drumbeat of Chipper’s incompetence, dishonesty, and abject numbskullery.

Seriously, this is a major problem for the Tennessee Democrat Party. Hunkering down and just hoping it will go away, as Chipper has done, is dangerous. There are a growing number of Democrats expressing discontent online. At least one executive committee member has publicly called for Freeman’s resignation.

I would be interested to know what’s going on with that executive committee resolution. Is there going to be a meeting? A conference call? How does this sort of thing work.?

I’m willing to bet that Chipper will stubbornly stand by his man. In fact, I think he will begin lashing out at the executive committee members that oppose Freeman, and I’m sure the Chipinista trolls and shills will continue attacking their opponents online.

Did you hear that Sean and benintotaldenial? You’ve been quiet the last few days.

Goddamn!! Harrison must have been typing at the same time that I was. That’s amazing.

It’s like dan t set off the Harrison/Heatseeker alarm and we came riding in.

Other than Chip, Ben Vos has to be the biggest hypocrite in this Freeman saga. Just last week, he wrote an ill-informed screed calling Bredesen a DINO and claiming he hasn’t done enough to elect Democrats in Tennessee. Then I read this twit defending Freeman in comment sections from one end of the state to the other.

If those aren’t the actions of a shill blogger, I don’t know what is.

Still waiting for a reply on the question of the week:

Was Forrester dishonest when he didn’t tell the Executive Committee about Freeman’s GOP voting and GOP donating record prior to Freeman’s”election” as TNDP treasurer?

Or was Forrester simply incompetent and didn’t know anything about Freeman being a GOP voter and donor?

Thanks for reminding us of the all-important question, TennRod.

What is it, Chipinista, dishonest or incompetent?

Overall, we know Chipper is both. We’ve heard “insider” reports that he has “poor judgment.” We’ve also heard “insider” stories that he has been dishonest with Al Gore and Ned McWherter.

In this case, though, I think Chipper lied to the executive committee. He knew Freeman was a Republican. He thought he could slip him through the executive committee.

And he would have gotten away with it if not for the meddling Associated Press!

Boy did we ever rejoice when Kurita voted for the Majority candidate Ron Ramsey as opposed to the Minority party chosing the House speaker!

And Kurita didn’t lie–her Caucus never asked her if she was supporting Wilder–they just assumed she would.

Besides she has been punished for her vote. But why wasn’t she exalted for BIPARTIANSHIP!!??

  13. Morpheus122 writes

Wrong answer, Avenger. Kurita did tell her Caucus that she was voting for Wilder. Numerous reports say that she nominated Wilder to be the Caucus candidate for speaker and she told the Caucus the very morning of the vote that she was supporting Wilder.

Yes, she was punished, and Chip Forrester led the movement on the executive committee to punish her. How can he now hire a man to be TNDP treasurer that has given huge contributions to the TNGOP and its candidates and voted for Republicans more than once?

She told me personally she didn’t. But truthfully, I would feel the same way you do about the treasurer situation.

Sometimes we all have to be partisan and your executive committee needs to be pure. You have every right to be angry. I would be.
